High Speed Train from California to Las Vegas

December 22nd, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

With Las Vegas tourism numbers at their lowest they have been in a long time, Governor Jim Gibbons of Nevada would like to get California visitors here quicker and easier with a high speed train. For many years this idea has been nothing more than that, an idea. But Gibbons has recently met with Barrack Obama about applying the stimulus package to this idea.

If constructed this new high speed train would take southern California residents to Las Vegas in about 86 minutes and would avoid drivers to have to use interstate 15 to make the trek across the desert. The train travels at around 300 mph and sits on magnetic levitation technology. Currently this type of train has been used in Japan since 2003 and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Gibbons have agreed to the project. This would stimulate local tourism for people not really willing to make the car ride but would enjoy taking a train ride to Las Vegas. Since more and more people are trying to stay closer to home for vacations this would be a great way to put some pep back into the Las Vegas economy as well as California’s. Certain steps have already been made to free up room for the project like a $45 million dollar study on the environmental impact for this project. Totals numbers to build the train would be in the ballpark of $12-$13 billion and would create many new jobs along with it. Nothing has been approved but officials are getting together to discuss options on how to allow this dream to come true.

Las Vegas Snow Storm?

December 18th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Well this is not something you see everyday. Mother nature continues to keep us guessing every single day with stranger and stranger weather patterns. We have snow in Las Vegas! For many travelers and tourists that were either planning on driving or flying into Vegas today were mostly grounded as Las Vegas was not sure how to react properly to this snow storm. For those of you looking for things to do in Las Vegas you will have to settle for scarves and mittens for today.

This does not happen very often but once every years larger snow falls can be seen falling over the city of sin leaving Las Vegas residents and tourists in amazement. For all of those who decided to visit Las Vegas to possibly get away from old man winter found themselves in a funny predicament this week. Sitting by the pool sipping a margarita did not seem like such a great idea anymore. Las Vegas is not a stranger to snow. They tend get flakes every year but this amount is almost record breaking. Las Vegas has not seen this amount of snow since 1979. This storm left very important trucking routes crippled. major highways connected Los Angeles and Las Vegas were left to one lane leaving behind a transportation nightmare. The storms stretched all up and down the west coast leaving a path of confused people with a dash of destruction.

Real Las Vegas Desert Time

June 26th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Nevada Desert around Las Vegas really doesn´t seem terribly desert-like, at least not in the way we usually think of a desert, pure sand. The desert here is actually quite fertile, with everything from Joshua trees to tumbleweeds and cacti growing in it.

Las Vegas sand dune tours

However, for some real desert, you can visit the Amargosa Sand Dunes. These amazing dunes are made of sand blown into mountains by the hot desert winds and the best way to check them out is to take a dune buggy!

These amazing sand dunes are so near Las Vegas that it´s pretty easy to get to them. You´ll even be picked up from your hotel when you book a dune buggy tour to the Amargosa sand dunes, so it really couldn´t be any easier. Finding the time to go will be your only issue.

Las Vegas has a lot to offer within the city, but you´ll also find that this is the ideal place to get in touch with nature, too. Head out in a dune buggy and you´ll see a lot more of Nevada than you ever expected!

Multi-Tasking Las Vegas Tours for Short Trips

June 25th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

When you have limited time in Las Vegas, tours that combine destinations are your best bet for being able to see everything possible. These tours are usually very good for the budget, as well, since you are paying for one Las Vegas tour and getting the opportunity to see a variety of places for one price. If you check it out, you will often save quite a bit of money doing things this way.

Las Vegas tours with multiple destinations

Two of the biggest Las Vegas tour destinations are the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam/Lake Mead. So if you are wanting to see these, it´s a good idea to check out the possibility of taking just one tour to see both destinations. For many, this is the best way to go about taking in the Las Vegas sights in a short vacation.

When it comes down to it, you probably won´t want to take any Las Vegas tours that require driving for long periods of time. The majority of these multi-tasking tours use helicopters to get you quickly from one place to another, so they might not be great option if you are afraid of flying. On the other hand, it´s an excellent way to enjoy a helicopter ride!

Las Vegas tours are so varied that you are bound to find something that you like. The more places you can go in one tour, the more money and time you´ll save.

2 for 1 Las Vegas Attractions Draw Tourists

June 24th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

There´s nothing better than a great deal and Las Vegas attractions are well aware of the fact. You´ll find plenty of deals in this city, but not all of them are really that great. For example, the $1.99 salad bar might not be the best option for staying healthy! However, you can still find lots of great deals.

If you are traveling with someone else, then a 2 for 1 special is ideal. It lets you cut your spending in half, if you find enough of them! Just imagine only paying 50% of the regular price to get into hot Las Vegas attractions like Madame Tussaud´s, Showbus of the Stars and Lake Mead Tours, among a large number of others.

It really is possible to check out a lot of different Las Vegas attractions without having to pay very much at all. If you are splitting the costs with a friend or family member, it will all be quite affordable and leaves you that much more cash to gamble in the casinos, or you could use it to bring a couple more family members along on your trip.

With so many great Las Vegas attractions to check out, it just makes sense to try and save a little cash. After all, money doesn´t grow on trees and you have better ways to spend your hard earned money than on Las Vegas attractions.

Las Vegas Tour Makes the Desert More Appealing

June 23rd, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

While Las Vegas is a lot of fun, there are times when you might want to just get away from the bright lights of the city and move on to other things. Las Vegas tours to the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead or the Valley of Fire are fun, but they only get you out of Las Vegas for a few hours. If you really want a great desert experience, it´s going to take a few days. Four days, to be exact.

Las Vegas tours

With the four day Las Vegas tour, you will really be able to see a lot. The Grand Canyon is great, but it´s only one stop on this fun tour that will take you out into the desert to check out the natural wonders that everyone should have a chance to see at least once in their lifetime.

With transportation provided, along with your lodging at each location for three nights, you won´t have to worry about shuffling through guidebooks or maps. Everything will be explained to you by your guide and there is more than ample time to check out each beautiful sight.

Besides the Grand Canyon, you´ll get a chance to see Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park, each of which has a unique beauty to share. This is a great Las Vegas tour that allows you to see so much more of the Las Vegas area.

Las Vegas Tours: Making Education Fun

June 22nd, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

No one could deny that the Grand Canyon is an educational experience. There are a lot of Las Vegas tours available to take you and your family to the Grand Canyon where you can see for yourself the amazing work that the Colorado River has done with carving out the canyon.

Las Vegas tours to the Grand Canyon

The fact is that kids aren´t going to be terribly interested in spending the day on the rim of the Grand Canyon. While it may be interesting enough . . . even the amazing views usually aren´t enough to hold the attention of a child for very long. That´s why it´s a good idea to look for Las Vegas tours that actually show you a bit more of the canyon and make the whole learning experience a fun one.

A good Las Vegas tour will include interesting activities and let you and your kids get up close and personal with the Grand Canyon. You´ll be able to fly down to land beside the river or even raft on it, depending on which Las Vegas tour you choose. Some tours even offer a picnic or an authentic cowboy cookout.

With the right Las Vegas tour, you can enjoy a vacation that is both educational and exciting!

Imagine you are watching a Las Vegas show and it suddenly becomes real . . . with you as a participant! That´s just what can happen in this amazing city. You might be surprised at just how realistic Las Vegas shows can be when you get to participate in them yourself, just as if it were reality!

With this type of Las Vegas show, you will have the chance to be part of the show! Las Vegas is a great vacation destination, but many people are under the misconception that it is just too expensive for a trip there. If you plan your trip the right way, though, there´s no need to spend more than you really want to spend.

For the most part, casinos are the big money wasters. Yes, you can win a lot, but you need to know where to go. Your best chances of actually winning are with games like blackjack and craps. The slots, where most people head first, offer the lowest possibilities of actually winning anything significant, so try to limit your time and money when it comes to gambling at the slots.

Another way to save money is to make sure that you get the best deals possible everywhere in Las Vegas. Do some research and find the best prices for hotels and look for other methods to save money. This blog right here has quite a few savings tips for your trip to Las Vegas. There are a lot of ways to save money in this city and you´ll find that one of the best methods of saving is to simply purchase a pass before you go. One that offers a discount on a variety of Las Vegas attractions, such as the Bite Card, is best.

Don´t avoid the wonders of Las Vegas just because you are afraid that it will be too expensive. You really can save money and still enjoy your vacation.
