Las Vegas Hotels - Caesars Palace Las Vegas

August 30th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Everyone has heard about Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. It has to be one of the best known hotels and casinos to be found anywhere. The hotel had its 40th anniversary last year as it was built in the swinging 60s - 1966 to be exact. The following year it was in the news big time when Evel Knievel, the motorcycle stunt man, tried to take his sleek machine, and himself, over the fountains. Unfortunately he failed, but the stunt was all good publicity for the fledgling Las Vegas hotel and casino.

Caesars Palace in Las Vegas has been a venue that many famous people have visited. It’s been the place to be seen at for the rich and comfortable for four decades, and it appears that it will be so for a good long time to come. The complex is modeled after the opulent palaces of ancient Rome where Caesars of old lived in a style most of us can only dream of. But this modern day palace is not all about munching grapes and sipping goblets of wine, here you can enjoy some of the world’s best shows.

For your comfort at Caesars Palace you can bask in any one of the four pools they have, enjoy the spa and exercise area where you can be pampered until you purr with delight, or take in any one of the many shows there, from the Fall of Atlantis Fountain Shows to Celine Dion in Las Vegas. Caesars Palace is indeed a palace of delights. Visit it and stay a while. You’ll be delighted you did!

Las Vegas Attractions - The Stratosphere Tower Observation Deck

August 28th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Where do you find the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States of America? In Las Vegas, of course. The Stratosphere Tower observation deck stands a proud 1,149 feet high. The tower, one of the miost popular las Vegas attractions, is located at the Stratosphere hotel-casino, which lies to the north of the intersection made by the Las Vegas Strip and Sahara Avenue.
The Stratosphere Tower Observation Deck
Although the Stratosphere Tower observation deck stand at 1,149 feet high, the outside observation deck is situated by necessity quite a little bit lower at 869 feet. It’s a great place of seeing Las Vegas and the surrounding area. It’s a great place for sunbathers as well, and anyone in fact who likes to be high up above the ground.

The floor of the outside observation deck effectively makes the roof of the indoor observation deck, which stands at 857 feet high. The indoor feck rests on three legs. This means that the window glass is angled outwards. This can be offputting for many who fear heights.

You can reach the Stratosphere Tower observation deck by elevators that whish you upwards at an impressive 1,800 feet a minute. This means that it takes a neat 30 seconds from ground level to the deck. X Scream and Insanity are both gained rfom the outdoor deck, and if you don’t know what they are, you’d better give the Stratosphere Tower observation deck, one of the finest Las Vegas attractions, a visit.

Las Vegas - The Wedding Capital Of The World!

August 27th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas - the wedding capitol of the world! People from all over the globe flock to Sin City to get legitimized in matrimony. Many of them are hitched by an Elvis impersonator at a drive-in chapel. How much more exotic do you want it to be!

One of the reasons why Las Vegas is so popular for weddings is that there’s no waiting and no requirement for a blood test. That speeds things up a lot. It’s not the only place in the USA with those flexible laws, but it is the most popular by far!

It usually surprises people to learn that marriage licences are not issued by the city of Las Vegas. They are issued by the Clark County Clerk’s office, which might take a moment or two to get your tongue around, apart from anything else. So, if you plan on getting married in Las Vegas, you’d better keep that little snippet of information in mind.

Of course, it’s not just the actual wedding ceremony that Las Vegas caters for. If you need a reception, a honeymoon, a batchelor party or batchelorette party - or any of a dozen related thing - then Las Vegas can do it for you, and do it very, very well too!

Las Vegas Tours - Grand Canyon Colorado River White Water Rafting

August 26th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

It doesn’t get much more of a white-knuckle experience than this. You’ll return with an adrenalin rush that will leave you breathless. But the memory will linger forever, and every time you think of the Grand canyon, you’ll recall seeing rocks flying past through a haze of white water. This is the Grand Canyon Colorado River White Water Rafting, one of the best Las Vegas tours there is.

You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Las Vegas and taken to an air-conditioned motor coach to start on a two and a half hour journey from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. En route you will be driven over the spectacular Hoover Dam and along the historic Route 66, made famous in song.

When you finally arrive at the bottom of the Grand Canyon after a bumpy 17 mile ride down from the canyon rim, you will put on your life jacket and listen to the safety instructions. Then you board the inflatable motor-power raft and you set off.

Mere seconds after leaving you will get wet as you hit the first set of rapids. But it doesn’t stop there. You will have some five and a half hours of rafting through 40 miles of white water. But you will get to see some of the most spectacular scenery ever seen by man or woman.

At the end of the journey you will be picked up by a jet helicopter and lifted up the 4,000 feet to the top of the rim. You will then be driven back to Las Vegas, through the Joshua Tree Forest and the Hoover Dam. It’s one heck of a journey, so be sure you don’t miss it!

Las Vegas Shows - The Second City Comedy Troupe

August 25th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Second City comedy troupe at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino are currently doing a show that is based around suggestions from the audience. This type of improvised skits are increasingly popular with comedy loving audiences everywhere, and the Las Vegas shows are no different.

There is no real script for the show. It’s a kind of free for all, if you like with no real expectation of what will happen. It’s spontaneous and outrageous, the unexpected can and does happen, and the overall result is quite simply hilariously funny. There’s a lot of satire flowing around during the shows. The scenarios are comic, social and political, depending on the situation and the requirement of the moment. The audience feel a real part of the show, as their participation is essential to its success.

The show currently being presented is a new format for the Flamingo production. All the material is improvised, not just bits of it. The cast are well able to keep up. In fact, they are well ahead of it all. The comic fivesome are made up of, Martin Garcia, Bridget Kloss, Seamus McCarthy, Amanda Blake Davis, and Craig Uhlir.

Expect some very quick-witted performances at the Second City show. Expect also to be well entertained and fully satisfied. Expect perhaps to have aches and pains from laughing too much, though that shouldn’t really be a problem as that is exactly what you are presumably seeking form this show. According to www.igoshows.com: “The show is a lot of fun. It is alive and fresh, and a show that would definitely be fun to go to more than once.” I wholeheartedly agree!

Las Vegas Restaurants, Alizé At The Top Of The Palms

August 24th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Alizé At The Top Of The Palms is, as the www.Andrelv.com web sites says:

“…located on the top floor of the Palms Casino Resort. Named after the gentle trade winds that sweep the French Caribbean Islands, Alizé features world-class cuisine, service and wine list with the most dramatic view of the famous Las Vegas Strip.”

André Rochat is the chef and proprietor of this popular, respected and award winning Las Vegas restaurant on the famous Strip. Condé Nast Traveler Magazine named this now famous restuarant as being one of the top quality new restuarants anywhere in the entire world.

The view from the Alizé At The Top Of The Palms is almost worth it alone. Overlooking the Strip from its high vantage point, it’s a pleasure to relax and watch the Las Vegas world go by far below. André opened his famous restuarant on November the 15th of 2001. The world-class food, the excellent service, and the sublime wine list quickly made it a winner all round.

The Alizé At The Top Of The Palms does not have a strict dress code. However, they do expect their diners to be considerate of others. They ask request that gentlemen wear, “resort-evening casual” dress, saying that jackets and ties are not essential, but on the other hand, jeans and a T-shirt is not quite respectful enough. Ladies are expected to wear, “considerate apparel.” They ask that everyone looks respectful, and above all, enjoys themselves at one of the finest of all Las Vegas restuarants.

Las Vegas Hotels - The Four Queens Hotel

August 23rd, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

This isn’t one of the best known hotels in Las Vegas. However, it does have some 700 rooms, which makes it not inconsiderable in size. The rooms are located within the 19 storeys of the hotel, which is within the Fremont Street Experience right in the heart of Las Vegas. And in case ypou’re not sure what the Fremont Street Experience is, according to Wikipedia it is:

“…a pedestrian mall and attraction in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The FSE (Fremont Street Experience) occupies the westernmost 5 blocks of Fremont Street and portions of some other adjacent streets.

The attraction is a barrel vault canopy, 90 feet high at the peak, that covers four blocks or approximately 1,500 feet.”

The rooms at the Four Queens Hotel are very comfortable. If you want a little more excitement with your room, you can get jacuzzi-suites to let you really relax after a hard day spent at the tables. However, the Four Queens Hotel is not a place where in-house entertain, emt is strong. You will find some stand-up comedy acts and other similar things, but no big shows. The hotel’s biggest value is probably in it being a downtown location that doesn’t cost the earth to stay in.

The hotel does have a Chicago Brewing Company location with an excellent cigar lounge. If you want something more romantic with good food, then Hugo’s Cellar is for you. Here you can get continental cuisine of a very high standard and probably the best martinis in town. At least, they make that claim, and they’re probably right too. They were the recipients of the “Award of Excellence”, presented by Wine Spectator, so they are well worth visiting.

Las Vegas Casinos - Gold Spike Hotel and Casino

August 22nd, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Some people come to Las Vegas who are not rich. They can’t afford rooms at $300 to $400 a night, not even for one night, let alone for a week. But they do have money and they do want to have a good time, roaming the Strip and playing some slots, or whatever. That’s where smaller the hotels and casinos like Gold Spike Hotel and Casino comes in. It lets people stay in comfort at affordable proces, and lets them play too.

It costs just over $20 for a room at the Gold Spike Hotel and Casino for a night. And if you’re wondering about the accommodation at that price, well, it’s pretty good too. OK, the rooms are smaller than the $300 to $400 rooms, but they have plenty of comfort, they’re clean and the service is excellent. I’d call it the bargain of any American city. And when you consider all the entertainment just literally at your feet, then it gets even better.

Do you like your casino to be huge, impersonal and perhaps a little scary if you’re new to it all? I’ll bet you don’t. That’s why the smaller, much more friendly casino at the Gold Spike Hotel and Casino is perfect for those who are not exactly in the big league of gambling. The casino offers some pretty good action. It might surprise you!

And while I’m sure you’ll step out to check up on all the other enntertainment places, just remember that the Gold Spike Hotel and Casino offers it guests a free meal every day. Now how’s that for value!

Las Vegas Attractions - The Roller Coaster at New York-New York

August 21st, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The New York - New York hotel and casino has one of the finest roller coaster rides and a spectacularly good Las Vegas attraction to beat them all. Well. almost… You have to go to the second floor of the Coney Island Emporium to get on the roller coaster. Down below there’s a pretty realistic replica of New York harbor. There’s even a tug boat, and of course, the Statue of Liberty, which in Las Vegas, stands at a respectable 150 feet high.

The New York - New York roller coaster ride takes some three minutes from start to finish. That may not seem long, but what a three minute ride it is! It can reach speeds of up to 67 miles per hour, so it’s not exactly crawling along at a leisurely pace. And of course, there are loops to let you scream, bends to make you strain the other way, and corkscrews to make you believe that the world is about to end. But it’s all good fun, in a kind of terrifying way.

The second drop is the one that gets you. After the first one you think it can’t get worse. It does. You fall more than 100 feet down a 50 degree incline - fast! But you won’t have time to worry about it. There’s a 180-degree heartline twist coming up, as well as a 540-degree spiral that will certainly put the G into G-force for you. But get there early. Almost one and a half million Americans and other visitors get on the ride every year. The lines can get long, but boy, they are worth the waiting for.

Las Vegas - More Than Just A Strip In The Desert (Probably)

August 20th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Las Vegas Strip is where most of Sin City’s action happens. It a four-mile long strip of wide street where there are probably more lighting strips and bulbs than anywhere else on earth. It’s really only a part of Las Vegas Boulevard South, but most people assume it is its own boss and not part of anything. It’s easy to see why.

Designated an All-American Road, incredibly, only a part of the Strip is actually inside the city limits of Las Vegas, and that part is the area lying to the north of Sahara Avenue. That begs the question, where does the part south of Sahara Avenue belong to? Well, it belongs to the unincorporated Township of Paradise and it lies in Clark County.

So, how di the Strip get its name? It was named after Sunset Strip apparently, by a policeman. Yes, policeman Guy McAfee first coined the phrase and it has stuck. The first casino to be built there is probably not the Pair-o-Dice Club, which went up on Highway 91 in 1931. It was the first casino in the general area, but the El Rancho Vegas, which opened in 1941, was the first one to be built on what is today considered the Strip.

The Las vegas Strip is not the world’s largest gambling center, however. But it is the second largest to be found on the globe, and the way things are going, it may yet be the biggest someday. But that doesn’t really matter, for once you get on the Strip, you know you are in heaven!

Taking In Some Las Vegas Shows

August 18th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas shows can be lavish, spectacular, glitzy and sparkling. In fact, they usually are. There is a long history of headlining shows in Las Vegas that run forever, it seems. Some of the shows that are currently running are every bit as professionally perfect as any in history. If you get the chance, go and see a performances - or even two!

Celine Dion is now involved in a production of A New Day. The show was specially created for her, and it is directed by Franco Dragone. The show is a visual feast of light, color and sound. Some are already saying that future shows will have to consider this one the standard that they will have to aspire to. Most others agree. You can see Celine at the Colosseum Showroom where A New Day is currently running for an indefinite time period.

The Star Theater has a great show on just now. The World’s Greatest Magic Show will have you convinced that magic is the greatest entertainment value on earth. There are many magicians and many acts in this extremely variable show. If you don’t like the act you are seeing, give another 10 minutes or so. Another act will come on that you may like better!

Las Vegas shows are as varied as the weather. If it’s liked by the people who come to Las Vegas, then it will probably be part of a show. But don’t just head for the big headliner shows. Sure, they are great. But the lesser known shows can be just as good, and often are actually better too!

The Zeffirino Ristorante at the Venetian - one of the best Las Vegas Restaurants!

August 17th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

There are hundreds of fine restaurants in Las Vegas. More than enough to choose from, all with their pros and cons. Among the finest to be found is one that stands on the site of the former and legendary Sands Hotel. It is the Zeffirino Ristorante at the Venetian.

As the Las Vegas Review Journal says, “…step into the romantic, dark woods of Zeffirino and you’re suddenly in Italy. Chef Gian Paulo ‘Zeffirino’ Belloni is serious about his seafood with an Italian flair, from the oyster bar on the ground floor to importing his own tomatoes and olive oil. All breads and pasta are baked on-site, and the pesto is world-famous.”

Some seriously famous people have agreed too. They include, Frank Sinatra, Mikhail Gorbachev, Luciano Pavarotti, Pope John Paul II, and Muhammed Ali. Thousand of ordinary people agree too; the Zeffirino Ristorante at the Venetian is simply outstanding.

You can sit and overlook the Grand Canal. It’s not the one in Venice of course, but it’s the closest thing to it to be found in the USA! Forget the lack of real authenticity - it looks real. And besides, the food is real - real good too. Some have considered the food to be the finest in the world. You’ll have to make up your own mind about whether or not that’s an accurate description. But I feel sure you will be very pleasantly satisfied with what you will find in Zeffirino Ristorante, the pride of the Venetian Hotel and Casino, one of the Las Vegas restaurants that you won’t forget in a hurry.

Las Vegas, The City Of The Meadows

August 13th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The city of Las Vegas in Nevada is sometimes known as Sin City, or The Entertainment Capital of the World. It is famed for its casinos, most of them along the Vegas Strip where more light bulbs glow than in any other place in the world.

Las Vegas is not an old city. It was established in 1905, just 102 years ago. In 1911 it became officially designated as a city. It is the largest city in the USA that was founded in the 20th century. It is the gambling capital of America and well known for its glamorous shows, exotic tours and adult entertainment.

Before anyone lived there it was an area used for waterin ghorses and other animals by the Spanish along the Old Spanish trail up from Texas. The name, Las Vegas, means the meadows, and it was known for its green grasslands. The availability of water made the area naturally attractive to settlers.

Today Las Vegas is unrecognizable from its humble beginnings. It is a popular tourist town that can party all night, and usually does. many people descenf on Las Vegas during their vacations in the hope that they might win a fortune. The vast majority do not.

Las Vegas Grand Canyon Skywalk Ultimate Helicopter Adventure

August 12th, 2007 by namecritic

The Las Vegas Grand Canyon Skywalk Ultimate Helicopter Adventure is one of the most popular tours leaving from Las Vegas. It isn’t cheap, but it certainly is a thrilling ride, and one to be remembered for a long time to come.

This Las Vegas tour leaves the city in a jet helicopter. You fly past the spectacular Hoover Dam and onto Lake Mead, then you head down to the Grand Canyon. You land at the Colorado river and take a boat ride on a pontoon. After that you get back into the helicopter and rise the 4,000 feet to the top again. Here you have the experience of the Hualapai Tribal Lands.

The really interesting bit is the Grand Canyon Skywalk. This is a glass bridge extending out over the west rim. Walking along the bridge is really strange, for you can see right down past your feet a long way down! Following that, you go to Guano Point for the Hualapai Buffet. Then it’s back on that helicopter to Las Vegas!

The Glitter Of The Las Vegas Hotels

August 9th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas has a total of 113 hotels throughout the city. Some are small, but almost 40 of them are very large with more or less 1,000 rooms each. That’s a lot of hotel! Names like Caesars Palace, The Sahara, The Hard Rock and others are pretty much household names. But these are the mere tip of a large iceberg.

Of course, the hotels of Las Vegas are not just hotels in most cases. they also house casinos, and that’s what people stay in the for most of the time. Apart from arriving and leaving, some people never see the light of day during their trip to Las Vegas. They leave their room in the morning, go down to the casino where they stay all day, eating in the restaurant when it’s necessary, and going back to the room to sleep very late.

Most of the best-known hotels are on the Strip. But some like the Fairfield Grand Desert Resort and the Green Valley Ranch are not on the strip. So don’t be afraid to leave the strip in search of Las Vegas hotels. There are plenty out there for everyone.

The Sights And Sounds Of The Las Vegas Casinos

August 8th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

How many casinos are there in Las Vegas? Hmm, quite a few, let me assure you. There are the well known ones such as the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, the Golden Nugget Casino, and the Stardust Hotel and Casino. But there are many more too.

Most of them are located on the Las Vegas Strip where more electric lights shine, shimmer and shake than in any other city in the world. Here fortunes are won - and lost. Here dreams come true, or are shattered. This is the world’s greatest dream machine, and it all starts at the Las Vegas casinos.

The Las Vegas casinos are addictive. Whether it be in the Silver Saddle Saloon, the Slots-A-Fun casino, the Two Dogs Tavern, or even Beano’s Casino, you will get pulled in and excited at the thought that maybe…. It’s best, therefore, to exercise some restraint. Have fun by all means, but don’t get out of your depth. That way your time with the Las vegas casinos will be a happy memory for ever.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition - Las Vegas Remembers The Ship Of Dreams

August 7th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

It was late on the evening of April 14, 1912 when the Titanic hit an iceberg. Two hours forty minutes later in the early hours of April 15, the unsinkable ship sank in the north Atlantic ocean. Only 705 of the 2,227 passengers and crew survived.

In the Tropicana Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas you can see many of the artifacts that were on the ill-fated ship on her maiden voyage from England to New York. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition is a memorable exhibition of all things Titanic. Las Vegas may be a long way from the spot where the ship sank, but it’s the place to go if you want to see real artifacts from the actual ship.

This has nothing to do with the movie, though inevitably you will be reminded of it when you view the exhibition. You will see floor tiles from the first-class smoking room, a 1900 vintage unopened bottle of champagne that was on board when she sank, one of the window frames from the Verandah Cafe, and much more.

The Grand Staircase that featured so much in the movie has been recreated. So has the outer Promenade Deck, right down to the cold temperatures of the final night. The Tropicana Hotel-Casino has certainly provided one of the very best Las Vegas attractions - be sure to see it.

One final thought… A first-class ticket on the Titanic in 1912 would have set you back $4,350. That amount in 1912 is now more like $90,000 today! What a journey it would have been had everything gone smoothly.

Las Vegas City Lights Helicopter Tour

August 6th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

This tour start with a toast of champagne before you climb into the luxury six-passenger, air-conditioned A-Star jet helicopter. Now, that’s what I call class! This tour happens at night, so you will see all the lights of Las Vegas bright and up close.

Las Vegas has a lot of lights. What better way to see them than from the skies? This is a tour you will not forget in a hurry. You will fly down the Strip, past the towers of Mandalay Bay, bouncing past the Bellagio and the New York New York Hotel.

Then it’s over Caesar’s Palace, on to the Eiffel Tower at Paris (well, Las Vegas Paris), zipping past Treasure Island. You may have seen the Fremont Street Experience from street level, but from the skies it’s something altogether different.

Now you come up to the 1,149 foot high Stratosphere Tower where you turn. Another few minutes and you’ll pas the Luxor Beam on the Luxor Pyramid that can be seen from outer space; you know why when you see it! Then the flight is all but over. But what an experience! Time, perhaps, for another glass of champagne…

Las Vegas Fight: Mayweather vs. Hatton

August 4th, 2007 by administrator

Fighting and Las Vegas go hand in hand almost as much as Las Vegas and gambling or Las Vegas and prostitution. You know, they don’t call it Sin City for nothing.

There is one fight taking place in Las Vegas this year that you don’t want to miss. It won’t happen until December, but it will be a fight worth watching. The fight is for the boxing welterweight title currently held by Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather is being challenged by Ricky Hatton (43-0, 31 KOs). Damn, how can Mayweather stand against a guy with so many knock outs?

Mayweather himself, though, is no weenie. With 38 wins, no losses, and 24 knock outs, he will be tough to beat. But the trash talk has already started and both men are making promises that only one of them will be able to keep. The question is, which one?

Hatton, an Englishman, is coming back to Las Vegas after beating the sweat out of Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas in June. Mayweather, from Michigan, beat Oscar De La Hoya on May 5 in one of the most exciting fights in welterweight boxing history.

Mayweather was planning to retire, but Hatton’s challenge got him back in the ring so the fight in December could outdo Mayweather’s slugfest against De La Hoya in terms of excitement and money on the ropes. It promises to enliven Las Vegas and light up the Christmas lights, if not put a jack ass in America’s nativity scene. We’ll see which one of these boxers will play the part of the jack ass. I’m betting it’s Hatton, but I’ve been known to double down and cover my bets so don’t be surprised if Mayweather gets a vote as well. Anyone know the spread?

It’s A Barrell Of Laughs In Las Vegas This Weekend

August 2nd, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Two great acts will show in Las Vegas this weekend. The first, kicking off Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Caesar’s Palace, is Jerry Seinfeld. Seinfeld made a television act about nothing. Now he’s on the road again with an act about nothing and creating laughs to sold out shows. Interesting trivia: Seinfeld’s comic career started the night of his college graduation. After appearing on a Rodney Dangerfield special he went on to do Johnny Carson, then helped to create his own television debut. Join the laughs. Seinfeld is one funny man.

But if that isn’t enough, while Seinfeld is creating laugh tracks at Caesars Palace in Vegas, funny man Wayne Brady will be tearing up The Venetian with his multiple talents in singing, dancing, and cracking jokes. You know him from “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” with Drew Carey, where Brady is well known for his impromptu shtick with fellow comedians. Well, he’s doing live improv at The Venetian. A part of his popular Las Vegas act includes getting acquainted with an audience member then performing a live impromptu rock opera with his assistant Jonathan Mangum. You will laugh your ass off.

Join the throngs looking for laughs in Las Vegas this weekend. Seinfeld performs Friday and Saturday night and Brady will perform Saturday and Sunday night at 9 p.m.
