Las Vegas Attractions, Madame Tussauds Interactive Wax Attraction

September 29th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Madame Tussauds Las Vegas
Madame Tussauds is usually more associated with London, England, but this one is in Las Vegas, and every bit as good as its British counterpart. The attraction is open daily from 10am to 11pm. It can be found inside the Venetian Hotel and Casino, which can be found at the intersection of the Strip and Spring Mountain Road.

There are more than 100 delicately designed replicas of the famous and fabulous in the world of film TV, sports and music. Lifelike is a word you will get used to as every model is just that. Another sighting of Elvis? You’ll think so when you see his wax model. It’s that good!

Spirit of America is one of the themed exhibits that is likely to interest everyone. It honors Americans who have made a real difference to the country’s past. Here you will find staunch patriots such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, John F Kennedy and others. Las Vegas entertainers from yesteryear are also featured, such as the inimitable Liberace, Frank Sinatra, Siegfried & Roy, and Wayne Newton.

Did I mention Elvis earlier? I did, and The King In Concert exhibition really does appear to bring him back again. Fans can be photographed shaking hands with him, and believe me, it really does look genuine, No wonder they claim sightings of Elvis when it gets this real.

The Madame Tussauds display is interactive in many areas. Perhaps the best one, for the ladies at least, is the Marry Clooney exhibition. Here they can don a wedding dress, veil, bouquet - the lot - and stand next to George Clooney, or his wax double to be more accurate, and have their picture taken. The wax model doesn’t seem to mind in the least.

Las Vegas, The City of Glimmering, Shimmering Lights

September 28th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas is a city of dreams. People arrive with hopes of making a fortune, but all too often leave disappointed. The rich go there to show off their wealth and the ordinary go there to see the rich and famous. There’s something for everyone, whether on the extravagant side of things, or on the more modest level.

The Strip in Las Vegas is one of the most famous streets in the USA. It’s where most of the casinos and hotels are. Most of the famous shows happen on the Strip, tours start from it, or are part of it, and luxury oozes from its multi-billion dollar hotels.

This is a town for the playboy, or the man who thinks he is. This is where women rule, if they have the money to make it happen, and many do. This is Las Vegas.

Las Vegas doesn’t believe much in energy saving. The lights that sparkle, flash and shake on every hotel and casino consume a tremendous amount of electricity. Las Vegas can afford it though. It can’t not afford it. This is Sin City.

Dozens of famous entertainers have worked in Las Vegas. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior and others made it their own. Later, Elvis shook his sequined suits all over it, even immortalizing the city in song; “Viva Las Vegas.” It probably will too.

Las Vegas Tours, Valley Of Fire Buggy Tour

September 27th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Valley Of Fire Buggy Tour starts when they pick you up from your Las Vegas hotel and take you in an air-conditioned mini-coach to the Valley of Fire for a dune buggy ride.

It starts properly with a safety lesson - pay attention - it’s important. Then you’re free to jump about one of the dune buggies. They come in one-seat, two-seat, or four-seat versions. All the safety equipment that you’ll need is supplied.

Just imagine, cruising through trails suitable for the novice, or for the expert, whichever you feel comfortable with. You might meet some of the local wildlife like big horn sheep, for example, but they won’t bother you.

The Valley of Fire is so called because of its red sand. That’s not reddish sand, but bright red sand. You’ll be kicking up a sand storm with your buggie ride, a red sand storm too. And if you find time, maybe you’ll glance around from time to time to appreciate the world famous rock formations around you.

Did some of the scenery look vaguely familiar? Well, if you watched the early Star Trek episodes you will have seen the Valley of Fire before, for they filmed some of the early stuff right there.

When your time is up after two hours, you’ll break for lunch before being whisked back to Las Vegas and your hotel. But you won’t forget the Valley Of Fire Buggy Tour in a hurry. It’s definitely one of the most memorable of the Las Vegas tours.

Las Vegas Shows - Thunder From Down Under

September 26th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Thunder From Down Under
Australia’s surprisingly credible answer to the Chippendale Dancers, an all-male revue that is proving to be just about as popular as the better known group, the Thunder From Down Under. They can be seen at the Thunder Theater at the Excalibur, 9pm Sunday to Thursday, and 9pm as well as 11pm, Friday and Saturday.

This is one of the Las Vegas Shows aimed squarely at women. These hunky Aussie men go above and beyond to entertain. They tease, tantalize and entertain in ways that most women have never imagined. Their audience, mainly women of course, are whipped up into a ferocious frenzy of excitement.

This is a show that has been around for 14 years. They have managed in that time to become the most successful male revue worldwide. After touring the globe, they settled in Las Vegas, opening at the Frontier. Soon aftre three other male revues opened in Las Vegas, all hoping to cash in on the Australian success story. They didn’t. But the Thunder From Down Under went from strength to strength, and still do.

The show at the Thunder Theater at the Excalibur lasts 75 glorious minutes. They bound across the stage displaying male flesh that your grandmother would blush at. This is the ultimate girl’s night out. The ultimate female fantasy, and the Thunder From Down Under know it too. This is a show not to be missed and not just for the women either.

Zeffirino Ristorante at the Venetian, One Of The Best Las Vegas Restaurants

September 25th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Zeffirino Belloni started out on his career in 1939 in Genova in Italy by opening a family restaurant there. His son also discovered that he had a flair for food preparation, and today it is Gian Paolo Belloni and his family who have restaurants in Italy, China, Spain and the USA.

In Las Vegas they run the Zeffirino Ristorante at the Venetian, which they opened in 1999. Many swear that being there is as close as being in Venice as it’s possible to be without actually being there. It is that good. The decór is stylish, magnificant and elegant. The handcrafted bar standing 40 feet high was imported from Italy. This where you can enjoy a cocktail before the main event.

Start with a perfect wine from the cellar that holds in excess of 600 different selections. They are not all Italian wines. The Zeffirino Ristorante takes its wines from all over the world, from some of the finest vineyards to be found anywhere. And then there’s the food. Here’s what Venetian.com has to say:

“Zeffirino imports many of its ingredients, chefs and staff from Italy and bakes its breads and decadent desserts on premises. Luciano Pavorotti, Frank Sinatra and Sugar Ray Leonard are amongst many who have chosen Zeffirino. Dine with us for lunch and dinner or consider Zerririno’s lavish Sunday brunch buffet. From the family that made pesto world famous - Zeffirino is truly a culinary treat not to be missed.”

The Zeffirino Ristorante at the Venetian has won many awards for its cuisine. This includes an Escoffier Award; Gian Paolo Belloni is the only non-French chef who has had the honor to receive this award - an ultimate honor for culinary skills. He has also been awarded the European Golden Medal in recognition of his exceptional talent. The Zeffirino Ristorante at the Venetian is beyond doubt an experience that is nit to be missed.

Las Vegas Hotels - The Westin Casuarina Hotel, Casino And Spa

September 24th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Westin Casuarina Hotel, Casino and Spa is located on East Flamingo Road, away from the Strip and all that hustle and bustle, to a more relaxing part of town. They’re not kidding when they say, “At Westin, our goal is that you leave feeling better than when you arrived.”

The Westin Casuarina Hotel is a non smoking establishment in most of its indoor spaces. Only the casino area, the adjoining lounge and the outdoor pool is exempt. They have 826 rooms, all non smoking, and guests will be charded an extra cleaning fee if they do smoke in their room.

This is a quiet hotel. It’s a slow hotel too. It’s where people come to unwind after the stress of the Strip, the cacophony of the casinos, or the cresendo of the attractions. This is a place to unwind. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun at the Westin. Far from it. But at the Westin your fun is actually more fun, for it means more.

If you want to really chill out, try the Hibiscus Spa. This is the height of luxury living. Enjoy it. There’s a lack of glitz and glamour at the Westin, but it appears all the more otherworldly as a result. This is where you can unwind and just drift. This is the Westin Casuarina Hotel.

Las Vegas Casinos - The Luxor Hotel and Casino

September 23rd, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Luxor Hotel and Casino
You’ll find the Luxor at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. You can’t mistake it - it’s the only pyramid there. And it has the most powerful light beam on earth - a tall 315,000 watt light situated right on the apex of the pyramid.

They claim that it’s there because the ancient Egyptians believed that they would travel to the afterlife on a beam of light. But it’s suspected that they just wanted to boast about having a really bright beam of light. Whatever the truth, it’s still one hell of an impressive sight!

Inside the pyramid you will find the Luxor casino. But before you do you’l gaze in amazement at this spectacular structure. If you take a room in the hotel, as many players do, you probably travel up to it on an elevator, or inclinator, as they are called in the Luxor. That’s because they have to travel upwards on an incline of 39 degrees due to the pyramid sides. This is probably one design aspect that the ancient Egyptian didn’t think through.

The casino area has the usual table, slots, race and sports book, etc, etc. There’s also a poker room and a high limit area for enthusiasts. The Luxor has The Players Club to offer you extra benefits and advantages. If you’re serious about playing in casinos, don’t miss the Luxor (you won’t for it’s the only 30-storey pyramid in town)!

Las Vegas Attractions - The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art Details

September 22nd, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

If you love fine art, and you love Las Vegas, then your best bet for a Las Vegas tour is the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art Details. This tour is in the Bellagio hotel, of course, which has many of the finest art masterpieces to be found in Las Vegas.

The tour is on days from Sunday to Thursday starting at 10am to 6pm, and on Fridayand Saturday from 10am to 9pm. Tickets can be bought up to 30 days in advance, and advance ticket purchase is encouraged.

The ceiling of the hotel lobby is covered in sculpture by Dale Chihuly. This was an exclusive commission by the hotel. They have a piece called Fiori di Como. It is composed of hand-blown glass flowers - 2,000 of them in every color.

Inside the Picasso restaurant it should come as no surprise to find originals by the restaurant’s namesake. Every meal there is a masterpiece too!

While these pieces are certainly well worth seeing, it is the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art where the best stuff can be found. Here they present exhibitions of a world class borrowed from famous museums worldwide. They have had works by Monet, Warhol and Faberge, to name a few.

The current exhibition, which will run until January 2008, is “In the Master’s Hands: Picasso’s Ceramics, Treasures from the Estate of Pablo Picasso.” Most people know of this great Spanish artist through his paintings, but he created pottery and ceramics too, during his time in the south of France.

The Las Vegas Strip - A Four Mile Long Dream

September 21st, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

It’s just four miles long and it’s really actually a section of the Las Vegas Boulevard South, an All-American Road, or at least, most of it is. And some of it isn’t even technically in Las Vegas! But still, it’s one of the best known pieces of road in all America. It’s the Las Vegas Strip.

The city of Las Vegas is well known for its casinos. America is not a land that allows a lot of gambling, but in Nevada, and a few other places, they do. Las Vegas is where most of Nevada’s gambling takes place, and the Strip is where most of the casinos and big hotels are located.

At the northern end of the Strip lies the Stratosphere Tower Hotel. Four miles south and you’ll find the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. But three and a half of those four miles are actually located in the town of Paradise in Clark County. In between the Stratosphere and the Mandalay bay you will find over forty casinos.

Many of the casinos and hotels are named after exotic places. For example, there’s the Greek Isles Hotel and Casino, the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino, New York, the New York Hotel and Casino, the Paris, the Sahara Hotel, the Tuscany Hotel and Casino, and more. Las Vegas Strip certainly believes in creating dreams.

Grand Canyon South Rim & Hoover Dam Air Flight & Land Tour

September 20th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Grand Canyon! Wow, what a spectacle. I really wish I had seen this natural wonder for the first time from the air. I didn’t though, but seeing it from the south rim one sunny April afternoon in 1995 is still one of my most abiding memories. And I recall seeing the aircraft in the skies and wishing I was in one of them.

You can be, though. The Grand Canyon South Rim & Hoover Dam Air Flight & Land Tour, one of the most exciting of the many Las Vegas tours, will take you to the south rim and let you see the wonders of nature as it should be seen - from the air.

The tour starts with you being picked up from your Las Vegas hotel. You’ll fly first over the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead - worth it for the price alone. Then you’ll fly over the Grand Canyon west rim and - well, what can I say. You just have to see it for yourself. Words don’t describe the incredible spectacle. You’ll remember it forever - believe me!

Then you’ll land at the Grand Canyon Village Airport, close to the canyon, where you’ll take a bus tour of the Grand Canyon National Park. You’ll stop at several places along the south rim and you’ll have plenty of time to take pictures and gaze at the world’s greatest natural wonder.

You will be given a meal before the flight back to Las Vegas. Then, you will probably have trouble sleeping at night, because your mind will be reliving the flight and the views. But that’s the good bit.

Las Vegas Shows, Marriage Can Be Murder II

September 19th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Marriage Can Be Murder II, performing at The Egg & I, West Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas, is a delight to see. The show can be seen on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7pm, and Saturdays at 6pm. It’s a comedy dinner show, so no one under 13 is allowed.

This is an interactive show. This usually conjures up images of humiliation for the audience, but it is not the case here. People interact at will and are not coerced or embarrassed. The cast are excellent, very funny and very professional.

The Egg & I is a restaurant where the food is surprisingly good. It doesn’t feature much in the wonderful food guides of Las Vegas, but then, many of the best things to be found in Sin City are underrated.

The murder mystery that is presented is not obvious to solve. It is not impossible either. It does require some consideration, but it is all the more intriguing for that. Of course, if you over indulge in some of the excellent wines on the wine list, you may find it a bit puzzling.

The mood and atmosphere during the Marriage Can Be Murder II show is good. People always seem to be having a good time, and the cast help enormously in this respect. This is one of the better Las Vegas shows. Check it out!

Khoury’s Mediterranean Restaurant, One Of The Most Pleasing Las Vegas Restaurants

September 18th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Khoury’s Mediterranean Restaurant has a spacious feel to it. This is in part due to the many large windows it has throughout. Its claim to Mediterranean food might be a little misleading, in that most people will think French, Spanish, Italian and so on. This isn’t exactly a place of the Mediterranean diet per se, it’s more a place of Lebanese cuisine.

Khoury's Mediterranean Restaurant

If you’ve ever been to Spain you will know what tapas are. They don’t have them in the Middle East, but they have their equuivilent in mezze. The menu at Khoury’s tells you that, “”it is a tradition to eat mezze at every meal.” It’s a wonderful tradition too.

Lebanese food tends to come in many small dishes, rather than the three-course meals that the west often favors. When I say many, I really do mean many. expect an array of small dishes that will keep you occupied for quite a while. But it will be a highly enjoyable time spent, so don’t worry.

If you’ve never tasted a Lebanese wine, this is your chance. They produce a strong wine, but very smmoth wines too. They may not be on the world’s top ten list, but don’t let that fool you; they are excellent and you really should try one.

If you are visiting Las Vegas you really have to try several of the very fine restaurants there. Consider Khoury’s Mediterranean Restaurant as something different, but also an experience that you will never forget.

Mandalay Bay Las Vegas Hotels

September 17th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Mandalay Bay - wow, what a hotel! Situated right on the Strip, tis is one lush place where the guests are treated right and if you want it, you can get it. The rooms are fully featured - all 3,309 luxury examples of them. Here’s some of the things you can expect to find in your room:

  • Air conditioning
  • alarm clocks
  • remote-controlled cable TV
  • desk
  • electronic door locks
  • hair dryer
  • iron and ironing board
  • pay-per-view movie
  • radio and telephone

This is a world class hotel for sure. There are massive - and I do mean massive - statues. There are rare aquatic creatures for you to gaze at, and there is elegance - sheer unashamed elegance everywhere you turn.

The Mandalay Bay is a hotel that is not ashamed to show off its luxurious side. And why should it? It attracts people of good standing in the world, famous people who are houshold names. People like Bob Dylan, for example, have stayed at the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas.

The Mandalay Bay also has a casino, like most other Las Vegas hotels. Their casino is huge. It covers 135,000 square fett of space. That’s a lot! There are slot machines, poker, craps, blackjack - in short, if you can play it, they have it.

The main attraction at the Mandalay Bay is Shark Reef. This is an aquarium tank containing over one million gallons of sea water. In all of that wonderful recreated ocean, you can see over 100 different species of creatures.

An example of the rarity of some of these creatures is the fact that of the twelve remaining golden saltwater crocodiles left in the world, the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef has five of them.

And if you come to Lad Vegas to get married, there’s the Mandalay bay Wedding Chapel. It has a tropical look with a relaxed atmosphere and not a single Elvis lookalike in sight.

Las Vegas Casinos, The Hard Rock Casino

September 16th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Hard Rock Casino is on the Las Vegas Strip, inside the Hard Rock Hotel. It has more than 600 slot machines, surely enough for even the most persistent gamer. Of course, there are many, many gaming tables where you can play blackjack, craps, roulette and pai gow.

Drinks are free for those who are gambling at the Hard Rock Casino. Just look for a cocktail waitress and she’ll gladly give you a drink. This is a popular casino with an atmosphere that suits the young and eager. But there’s a place for everyone too.

The Hard Rock Casino also has a Race and Sports Book. It provides at least 40 live feeds covering as many racetracks and games. They are displayed on banks of plasma, high definition screens that are easily viewable by anyone.

The Peacock Lounge at the Hard Rock casino is where the stakes get higher. There are leather seats here to make the determined gambler more comfortable. Here you cdan play poker, blackjack, or any of the many games available to be played.

This room is named in recognition of Jimi Hendrix and it is a tribute to him. In 1968 he performed in the Filmore Theater wearing a vest that was peacock feathered.

The second highest stakes can be found at the Fender Room. Here they have high-stakes slot machines, and there is a privacy that people like. This room has its own section for gambling on racing in private seclusion.

Las Vegas Attractions, All Access Backstage Walking Tour At The Jubilee!

September 15th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Bally’s hotel and casino that stands at the intersection of Flamingo Road and the Las Vegas Strip is home to Jubilee! This show has been running for almost 30 years and doesn’t seem as if it will stop any time soon.

The All Access Backstage Walking Tour At The Jubilee!, one of the best Las Vegas attractions, is the perfect complement to seeing the actual show itself. But the tour can also be taken in isolation if preferred.

Backstage at the Jubilee! is a technical marvel. This is one of the largest stages in the USA and it shows. There are three lifts, two revolving parts and two wagons. It needs to be seen to fully understand what it’s all about.

But of course, the tour is really all about the Las Vegas showgirls. At the Jubilee! they are very much in evidence. The amazing bit is the speed that they can change costumes. On the tour you will see for yourself just how difficult that is for them. They can make anything up to ten trips up two full flights of stairs during every show!

Showgirls are allowed a mere two minutes to change costumes, shoes and headdresses. The headdresses can weigh up to 35 pouunds, so you can see that their job is not all plain sailing. The costumes are the same ones worn by showgirls three decades ago, and were designed by people such as Pete Menefee and Bob Mackie. Why don’t you srop along for the tour at the Jubilee!, and even go to see the show itself. You’ll love it!

Las Vegas - A Heavenly Glitter On Earth

September 14th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas is a city like no other. It lies in the middle of a desert, but it acts as if it were lying in a valley of plenty. And there is plenty too in Las Vegas. Not because it’s naturally there, but because money can buy anything.

In an unusual city you can expect to find unusual thing. Las Vegas doesn’t disappoint you in this respect either. Sin City has some of the weirdest and wackiest shops you could find anywhere.

So you need a wig? Serge’s Showgirl Wigs on Sahara Avenue is one of the biggest showrooms of wigs in the world. This is disguise heaven. You can have a stylist help you choose and fit a wig, if that’s what you want.

The rough equivalent of selling snow to Eskimos must be Cactus Joe’s Blue Diamond Nursery. He sells cactus plants to people living in a desert. I don’t know how successful the snow selling thing could be, but Cactus Joe and his Blue Diamond Nursery are doing fine. Business is booming for him.

Do you like chocolate? I mean, really like chocolate? Well, Ethel’s Chocolate Lounge might just be the place for you. It’s located in the Fashion Show Mall and it sells, surprise, chocolate! But not just chocolate, you can have piña colada truffles, chocolate of course, white chocolate cheesecake, peanut butter and jelly-filled chocolate (yes, really!).

If you want something more unusual, head over to the Psychic Eye Book Shop on Charleston Boulevard. Here you can buy the mystical and magical. They sell amulets and talismans, candles and oils, tarot cards and cauldrons, and much, much more. Las Vegas is not all about gambling and shows. There’s more to the city than meets the eye (the Psychic Eye, that is).

Dancing In The Skies With The Sailplane And Glider Las Vegas Tours

September 13th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Scenic Desert Glider Flight
They call it dancing in the skies, and it really is a bit like that. If you’ve never been up in a glider, then you are definitely in for a treat if you take the sailplane and glider Las Vegas tour.

It may only last half an hour or so, but hey - what a half hour it is! You will be thrilled, spilled and plain exhilarated beyond anything you ever imagined possible.

This Las Vegas tour starts with a drive out to Jean, Nevada. You can either make the trip yourself, or let the tour people take you, though that does, naturally, cost a little extra. Of course you have to put your trust in the pilots, but know that the pilots have decades of experience between them, so you are in safe hands.

The great thing about a glider is that you can sit up front, and you do in this flight. Expect to experience loops, stalls (don’t panic - they recover from them), high G and low G maneuvres, and high flying wing-overs. What? Did you think you were just going to sit there while you drifted on the thermals? No. This is an action tour.

But don’t think that it will all be looping and zooming around. You will see the beauty of the desert in sheer panoramic majesty - totally unrestricted views that few have seen. Take a camera or video recorder and re-live the moments later. You’ll be glad you did!

Las Vegas Shows - Mamma Mia!

September 12th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Mamma Mia Las Vegas
Think back to the 1970s, to platform shoes, flared jeans, everyone with a moustache - well, the men at least, and long hair that never quite shortened since the 60s.

In the middle of all that was Abba, the Swedish pop group who gave us such a multitude of singalong songs that hardly anyone can seriously claim that they don’t know an Abba song.

Now, many years later, the music of those two Swedish men, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, is alive an well once again in theaters all over the world, and notably at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The show is a Broadway hit called Mamma Mia! It’s named after one of the highly popular songs, of course.

There’s a story, but like all musicals, the music is really more important. At every show people end up singing in the aisles, rocking to the familiar music in a nostalgic romp of sheer indulgence.

No less that 22 of Abba’s songs are featured in Mamma Mia! Here’s what some of the critics have been saying:

“A sensation. Just sit back and let the joy sweep over you.”
New York Post

“A wildly entertaining good time.”
KCBS, San Francisco

“One of the most exciting, dazzling, electrifying shows you’ll ever see.”
KGO Radio, Los Angeles

“I was blown away.”
KVBV, Las Vegas

What will you say about Mamma Mia? Why not head over to the Mandalay Bay for one of the finest Las Vegas shows you will ever see and find out.

Las Vegas Restaurants, The 808 at Caesars Palace

September 11th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The 808 serves Hawaiian and Euro-Pacific cuisine. You probably should make a reservation as the restaurant is popular on most nights. You don’t have to dress up too fancy, but casual to smartly dressed is about right.

The restaurant is not open every evening. It remains closed midweek on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and is open every other evening, 5.30pm to 10.30pm, Sunday, Monday and Thursday, and 5.30pm to 11pm on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The decor at the 808 is naturally Hawaiian. There is a watery feel to the ceiling, but it is largely an illusional effect. The colors that are used throughout are muted and blend well together to provide a relaxing effect.

Hawaiian fusion is one way to describe the food. It’s predominantly Hawaiian with a mixture of French, Japanese, Italian, Indian and Thailand. It’s difficult to describe any other way, except to say that it is simply heavenly.

The lobster has been described as “out of this world,” but it is definitely in this world and just waiting for you to sample it. I should warn you that the lobster is not cheap, but you will probably never taste lobster quite like it again.

The 808 can and does get busy. Service can be slow after 7pm or so. If you are in a hurry, then you probably shouldn’t be there. Slow down, relax, get a large drink and just bide your time. You’ll get served before long and it will be worth the wait. believe me, it will be!

You Can Win At The Wynn, The Most Luxurious Of Las Vegas Hotels

Steve Wynn designed the Wynn Hotel, giving it his own name in the process. It stands on the site of the old Desert Inn, which was demolished in 2001. The Wynn cost some 2.7 billion dollars. That’s 2,700 million dollars - an awful lot of money in anyone’s book!

The Wynn was designed to be the greatest hotel in Las Vegas. Greater than the Bellagio, greater than Treasure Island and greater than the Mirage. Steve Wyn designed all of them too.

The Wynn hotel has some 2,700 rooms, which is one for each million spent on its construction. The casino area covers an incredible 111,000 square feet. There’s even an 18 hole golf course at the Wynn - something you don’t often find in a hotel.

If you want to pose and be seen at the Wynn, go to the Wynn pool. There’s a main area and a topless area behind the pool bar. The Wynn Cabanas is well stocked with juices, special waters, refrigerators, a plasma TV, iPod use, towels by the dozen and whatever else you might need.

The Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas is one of the most expensive hotels to stay in in the world. That doesn’t put people off though. They flock to it to see just how good it really is, and it really is good too. If you are seeking to take in a show, you can at the Wynn. They have a 2,000 seat circular theater room that simply oozes luxury. If you want to win in Las Vegas, you can at the Wynn!

September 9th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Casino Royale and Hotel in Las Vegas is on the Strip between the Venetian and Harrah’s, just across the road from Treasure Island and the Mirage in the part that lies between Flamingo Road and Tropicana Avenue.

The casino has over 400 slot machines. These are the most up to date, state of the art, slot games and video poker games. they range in denomination from a mere one cent all the way up to $5. In the table games rooms you can get 100 times odds on craps, for example, with low minimums on most games. They have Spanish 21, roulette, blackjack switch, Caribbean stud - all with cheerful and friendly dealers.

At http://travel.discovery.com/ they named The Casino Royale the number one place to be, saying it was: “The world’s best place to strike it rich.” On their website at, http://www.casinoroyalehotel.com/ they also say that, “the Casino Royale and Hotel’s Club Royale is the player’s ticket to free meals, complementary and discounted rooms, cash back and more!”

The Casino Royale and Hotel has 152 room with very affordable rates. there is a choice between smoking and non-smoking, king or double-double beds - nothing too small at this hotel - and there is a complementary in-room safe, as well as a coffee maker and refreshments.

If you’re heading for Las Vegas to see the casinos, don’t forget the Casino Royale and Hotel on the Strip. It’s a great place to play, and a great place to stay too! See you there…

Las Vegas Attractions For Kids

September 8th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Most people coming to Las Vegas are adults, but not everyone is. Many families come to Sin City, presumably hoping that their kids won’t see that side of it, and it with them in mind that this article is written. What Las Vegas attraction are there for kids?

Well actually, there’s quite a lot. Las Vegas may be famous for its casinos and its big star name shows. It may have some of the finest restaurants to be found in America, and some more adult themed attraction as well. But it has not forgotten the kids either. Some of the best Las vegas attractions are aimed solidly for kids. Let me list a few…

Adventure Canyon at Buffalo Bill’s has just the right title to get a young person interested. It tries to be reminiscent of a log ride, and it succeeds better than most at it. The web site, LasVegas.com, describes it as, “…a basic flume ride with a 35-foot, drip-filled drop” which it is. But it’s more, much more.

After splashdown the ride comntinues on a four-minute ride. There’s an electronic shooting gallery as you float through the scenery. Every so often an illuminated target shows up that you can shoot at. Sometimes they shoot back though! You can pick up points for getting the bad guys. It’s a great attraction.

Then there’s the Big Shot at the Stratosphere. This one literally takes you into the stratosphere - well, almost. You are launched 160 feet up in just two and a half seconds. That’s fast! You actually hit a speed of 45 miles an hour too. Then you experience zero gravity as you drop back down and yo-yo up and down for a while. This is one heck of a ride. Don’t miss it!

Las Vegas - One Heck Of A City!

September 7th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The population of Las Vegas increases by around 50,000 each year. That’s the population of a medium sized town. By 2010 the city will have over 2,000,000 residents. But Sin City, as it’s sometimes called, is not all about glitzy lights and glittering shows. It has another side to it that is sometimes overlooked in the midst of all the glamor.

While Las Vegas is the only place in the world where you can travel from Paris to New York in just five minutes, see the Egyptian pyramids and the ancient Roman empire within hours, and even see a volcano erupt, that of course is the play side of things that Las Vegas has to offer.

Las vegas is a great place to live and work. The local economy is booming. Companies don’t have to pay some taxes, such as on corporate income, franchise, unitary, or inventory. That’s a huge incentive for encouraging inward investment. And from the personal point of view of the worker, there is no personal income tax, which greatly helps the cost of living. And mainly because of that, the cost of living in Las Vegas is lower than in most comparable cities.

The growth of Las Vegas is legendary. I mean the physical growth and not the economy growth, which is also legendary. Every 24 hours it is estimated that some two acres of land is developed for either residential or commercial use somewhere in the city. That’s progress on a huge scale!

But Las Vegas is a fun city. That’s why some 40,000,000 - that’s forty million - people, most of them hoping to win a fortune in the casinos, all descend on Las Vegas each and every year. That’s the population of a country! Las Vegas is one heck of a city. Come and visit it and see for yourself.

The Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour

September 6th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Everyone wants to see the Grand Canyon, and rightly so. It’s probably the only marvel of the world that is greater than any of the written descriptions of it. You can stand at its edge and just stare along its length forever. It has a strange kind of hypnotizing effect that holds you entranced.

Seen from the air, the Grand Canyon is every bit as hypnotic and spectacular. The Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour. one of the most exciting of the Las Vegas tours, is one well worth taking. It’s better than any Disney ride, for it’s real. Prepare to be amazed…

The Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour starts with a complimentary pickup from your downtown and Strip hotel. You will be onboard a state-of-the-art luxury air-conditioned jet helicopter for a round trip of 90 minutes.

First on the list of wonders is the Hoover Dam. This is still one of the engineering marvels of the planet, and you will see it close up from the air. Next on the list will be Lake Mead, which is the largest man-made lake in America. You will fly past the Grand Wash Cliffs, before finally descending down into the Grand Canyon itself.

You go down for almost a mile, deep into the depths of one of the greatest marvels there is. You won’t know where to look for the best views, for they will be all around you. Your head will spin with amazement, but it will be good amazement and a wonderful experience. There is nothing anywhere like the Grand Canyon. Drink your fill of it and love every supercharged moment!

After you leave the Grand Canyon you will pass over Iceberg Canyon, then the Valley of Fire, the oldest State Park in Nevada. Then there’s the Bowl of Fire with iron-enriched rock that seems to be on fire, especially on a hot day.

Before arriving at Las Vegas again, you will pass over old silver mines and ghost towns from the cowboy era of the late 19th century. Then as you arrive at Las Vegas, you will take a final aerial trip down the Strip, before being dropped off again at you hotel. Your next problem will be trying to sleep that night after such an incredible experience!

Las Vegas Shows, Spamalot at Wynn Las Vegas

September 5th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Did you laugh at the old Monty Python TV series? You know, those British guys with the strange accents and the weird sense of humor that cavorted around in wacky surreal situations back in the 60s? I did, and I just discovered that you still can in Las Vegas. OK, it’s not the “real” Monty Python team, but it’s a great show. It’s called Spamalot and it’s playing at the Wynn in Las Vegas, even as we speak.

The term, spam, is used a lot these day. It means unsolicited email really, but it includes anything that you get showered with that you didn’t ask for. Do you know why the word, spam, is used? It comes from a Monty Python sketch that involved a restaurant scene with a table full of Vikings and a couple trying to order from a waitress. Every time spam is mentioned, and it’s mentioned a lot, the Vikings burst into song singing about spam.

The show at the Wynn in Las Vegas is based loosely around that sketch. It’s an award-winning smash hit musical, and it features songs by Eric Idle, one of the original members, and John Du Prez. Oscar-winner, Mike Nichols, is the director.

Many people who have seen the show consider it to be the funniest show by far in Las Vegas. The story, yes, there is one, revolves around the legendary King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Needless to say, they are on a quest for the Holy Grail. There are chorus lines of pretty girls, killer rabbits (don’t ask), and a legless knight, possibly the only one on the Strip, or in the whole of Las Vegas for that matter. It’s all good fun and you definitely shouldn’t miss it!

Las Vegas Restaurants, Renoir at the Mirage

September 4th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

When it opened, Renoir at the Mirage was just a little bit better than most retuarants in Las Vegas. Today it is one of only three restuarants in Las Vegas that has earned the AAA Five Diamond rating. That is how good the Mirage’s Renoir is considered to be.

Of course, the Remoir at the Mirage has one of the finest chefs in the country overseeing all the food, so what other can you expect but high quality! As http://uk.holidaysguide.yahoo.com/ so aptly put it:

“Executive Chef Alessandro Stratta was named one of America’s 10 Best Chefs by Food & Wine, and has several serious culinary awards including the 1998 Best Chef in the Southwest by the James Beard Foundation.”

It’s only to be expected in one of the finest Las Vegas restuarants that Renoir at the Mirage would have something connected to Pierr-Auguste Renoir, the famous impressionist painter. They do!. The restuarant is decked out with a number of original art works by this great man. At the Renoir you can enjoy fine food, and fine art too - an inspiration idea indeed.

What, you may wonder, might you be served at the Renior at the Mirage? According to http://www.mytravelguide.com/ you might enjoy some of the following:

“Entrees include roasted squab, Maine lobster and braised short ribs with horseradish potatoes. Salads include asparagus arranged with grapefruit, topped with citrus vinaigrette. If you have room for dessert, there is the apple and caramel tarte with fromage blanc ice cream.”

Las Vegas restaurants are many and varied. Some are good, some are bad, and some are sublime. Renoir at the Mirage is definitely in the sublime category. Go there and see for yourself!

Some Favorite Las Vegas Hotels

September 1st, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

If you want to know where the celebrities stay in Las Vegas, it’s not hard. Many have stayed at the best hotels in the city. The Bellagio is one such place that comes to mind. But if you want to know some of the best hotels in Las Vegas, they’re not all as well known as the Bellagio. At least, some of the best hotels aren’t as well known to average people like you and me. The stars, on the other, know how to get around. The next time you stop into Las Vegas, try one of these class acts:

  • Riviera Hotel and Casino
  • Monte Carlo
  • Golden Nugget
  • Mandalay Bay Hotel
  • The Orleans Hotel and Casino
  • Treasure Island

When you come back to Las Vegas, try one of these hotels. You’ll be glad you did.
