Las Vegas Attractions For Kids

September 8th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Most people coming to Las Vegas are adults, but not everyone is. Many families come to Sin City, presumably hoping that their kids won’t see that side of it, and it with them in mind that this article is written. What Las Vegas attraction are there for kids?

Well actually, there’s quite a lot. Las Vegas may be famous for its casinos and its big star name shows. It may have some of the finest restaurants to be found in America, and some more adult themed attraction as well. But it has not forgotten the kids either. Some of the best Las vegas attractions are aimed solidly for kids. Let me list a few…

Adventure Canyon at Buffalo Bill’s has just the right title to get a young person interested. It tries to be reminiscent of a log ride, and it succeeds better than most at it. The web site, LasVegas.com, describes it as, “…a basic flume ride with a 35-foot, drip-filled drop” which it is. But it’s more, much more.

After splashdown the ride comntinues on a four-minute ride. There’s an electronic shooting gallery as you float through the scenery. Every so often an illuminated target shows up that you can shoot at. Sometimes they shoot back though! You can pick up points for getting the bad guys. It’s a great attraction.

Then there’s the Big Shot at the Stratosphere. This one literally takes you into the stratosphere - well, almost. You are launched 160 feet up in just two and a half seconds. That’s fast! You actually hit a speed of 45 miles an hour too. Then you experience zero gravity as you drop back down and yo-yo up and down for a while. This is one heck of a ride. Don’t miss it!
