Think back to the 1970s, to platform shoes, flared jeans, everyone with a moustache - well, the men at least, and long hair that never quite shortened since the 60s.
In the middle of all that was Abba, the Swedish pop group who gave us such a multitude of singalong songs that hardly anyone can seriously claim that they don’t know an Abba song.
Now, many years later, the music of those two Swedish men, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, is alive an well once again in theaters all over the world, and notably at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The show is a Broadway hit called Mamma Mia! It’s named after one of the highly popular songs, of course.
There’s a story, but like all musicals, the music is really more important. At every show people end up singing in the aisles, rocking to the familiar music in a nostalgic romp of sheer indulgence.
No less that 22 of Abba’s songs are featured in Mamma Mia! Here’s what some of the critics have been saying:
“A sensation. Just sit back and let the joy sweep over you.”
New York Post
“A wildly entertaining good time.”
KCBS, San Francisco
“One of the most exciting, dazzling, electrifying shows you’ll ever see.”
KGO Radio, Los Angeles
“I was blown away.”
KVBV, Las Vegas
What will you say about Mamma Mia? Why not head over to the Mandalay Bay for one of the finest Las Vegas shows you will ever see and find out.
