If you love fine art, and you love Las Vegas, then your best bet for a Las Vegas tour is the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art Details. This tour is in the Bellagio hotel, of course, which has many of the finest art masterpieces to be found in Las Vegas.
The tour is on days from Sunday to Thursday starting at 10am to 6pm, and on Fridayand Saturday from 10am to 9pm. Tickets can be bought up to 30 days in advance, and advance ticket purchase is encouraged.
The ceiling of the hotel lobby is covered in sculpture by Dale Chihuly. This was an exclusive commission by the hotel. They have a piece called Fiori di Como. It is composed of hand-blown glass flowers - 2,000 of them in every color.
Inside the Picasso restaurant it should come as no surprise to find originals by the restaurant’s namesake. Every meal there is a masterpiece too!
While these pieces are certainly well worth seeing, it is the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art where the best stuff can be found. Here they present exhibitions of a world class borrowed from famous museums worldwide. They have had works by Monet, Warhol and Faberge, to name a few.
The current exhibition, which will run until January 2008, is “In the Master’s Hands: Picasso’s Ceramics, Treasures from the Estate of Pablo Picasso.” Most people know of this great Spanish artist through his paintings, but he created pottery and ceramics too, during his time in the south of France.
