The Orleans Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas

October 31st, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has no less than 13 notable restaurants and cafes, and even an Irish pub. Canal Street is its steak and seafood restaurant. Prime Rib is one of its specialities, all in a distinctively New Orleans style.
The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas
Prime Rib Loft is definitely the best for prime rib in this hotel. This restaurant overlooks the casino area and you need to be serious about eating prime rib to eat here. Of course, ther are other items on the menu too, as well as excellent service and a “comfortable and attractive ambience,” to quote the web site.

Big Al’s Oyster bar speaks for itself:

“Serving freshly shucked oysters and clams or choose from steamed clams, Voodoo mussels, pan roasts, bouillabaisse and pasta dishes all served with an authentic Creole/Cajun flair.” www.orleanscasino.com

The French Market Buffet features an unusual mix of foods. They have Mongolian, Mexican, Italian and Chinese for a start. It’s a buffet as its name suggests, and expect the best, especially from the dessert bar!

Don Miguel’s is an extremely good Mexican restaurant. Don’t miss it! And Koji combines a Sushi Bar with a China Bistro. This is an Oriental mix that works really well. Chinese cuisine and Orleans-style specialities combine in the Courtyard cafe, which is open 24 hours a day.

The Orleans Hotel has a T.G.I. Friday’s. It’s as good as any you might find of the chain. They also have Brendan’s Pub. It’s as authentic an Irish pub as you’ll find outside of Ireland. Here you’ll find genuine Irish beers and whiskeys. They also serve pub food, which is very good.

Seattle’s Best naturally has to center on coffee. Whichever your favorite coffe brand might be, you will probably find it here. Terrible Mike’s is a fast food place. they have hot dogs, sandwiches, hamburgers and more. And finally Subway will serve you their healthy alternatives that have made them famous. Enjoy!

Las Vegas Thrill Ride Adventure Tour

October 30th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Scream factor is a phrase describing how good a ride is. The Thrill Ride Adventure Tour claims to have five scream factors, and that’s very good news for thrill ride enthusiasts! This attraction incorporates no less than five of the greatest experiences you can have with all your clothes on.

Vegas Thrill Ride Adventure Tour
There’s not a lot to say after that! Except that this is ride paradise. Everything you ever hoped good rides would be will come true when you take the Thrill Ride Adventure Tour in Las Vegas. For a start, you commence at the very top of the Stratosphere, one of the highest points for miles around. Here you will start off with The Big Shot, experiencing no less than four G’s of force, traveling at 45 miles an hour. Nut there’s more to come…

X Scream is the third highest ride in the world. And of course, they don’t have the word, “scream” it its name for nothing! If you want a really good view of the Strip and Las Vegas in general, then Insanity is for you. This amazing ride will push you some 64 feet out over the edge of the Stratosphere tower. It will spin you at three G’s of force though, so maybe your view of the city will be a bit distorted. But you didn’t go on the ride for the view…

Speed comes next. This ride is at the Sahara Hotel. This ride is as good as it gets. You will go forwards and backwards at 70, yes 70, miles an hour. Last but not least comes the Manhattan Express. Las Vegas Self Drive Tour to Grand Canyon West Rim

October 29th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Grand Canyon. The only spectacle on earth that is greater than its combined hype. This is a self drive tour to Grand Canyon West Rim, so you take it at your own pace. The day starts when they pick you up by complementary shuttle and take you to the rental desk where you will receive your rental car for the day.

An interactive map, road games and a full gas tank is what you get, along with the car, of course. The idea is to follow the map and discover important sites of interest along the way.

“Once past Boulder City and Lake Mead, you will see the incredible Hoover Dam! Past The Hoover Dam will be tiny towns and communities. Watch out for longhorn sheep, wild horses, cows, and if you look close, you may see a snake crossing the road at the Joshua Tree Forest.” www.viator.com

After the incredible Joshua Tree Forest you will make a turn off in the direction of the Grand Canyon. You will now be on Hualapai Land and another phase of the journet starts. You will pass through several points of interest: Indian Village, Eagle Point, Guano Point, and Hualapai Ranch.
Grand Canyon West Rim Tour
From here you can enjoy a half hour horse drawn wagon ride which takes you to Hualapai Ranch at the rim of the canyon. Here you can take the optional activity of going out on to the Grand Canyon Skywalk. This is a glass bridge suspended out over the canyon. You can stand 4,000 feet above the canyon floor and feel like you are standing on air. Amazing!

Las Vegas, Death Valley Day Tour

October 29th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Death Valley Day Tour is a seasonal tour and, because of the extreme heat generated in the area in summer, it only operates in the winter months between October and May. The tour last around 11 hours, which includes transport to and from Las Vegas.

A complementary continental breakfast is served to you at Beatty in Nevada. This is your first stop out of Las Vegas in the incredibly beautiful Mojave Desert. Scotty’s Castle is the next stop where you will be taken back a century or so in history information.

The castle tour takes a full hour, then you will have a half hour to explore the area for yourself. You can also eat the complementary lunch provided during this time.

Your next stop is at the Ubehebe Crater. There once was a volcano here, but an eruption at one time was so violent that it disappeared and just left a big hole in the ground. The hole, or crater, is half a mile across and 800 feet deep.
Death Valley Day Tour
Furnace Creek Ranch museum is the stop next on the list and here they will tell you the history of Death Valley. Moving on you come to Badwater. This is lowest point in the western hemisphere. It stands, or lies, 282 feet below sea level.

You end the tour at Rhyolite Ghost Town. Her they will present you with your Death Valley Explorer Certificate!

Fashionistas Las Vegas

October 28th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas Revew Journal voted it one of the 10 Best Shows in the city. Most people who go to see it also agree. This is an adult entertainment show of fetish and fantasy. It’s eroticism at its best. It’s also the first arotic show in Las Vegas to make the 10 Best list of the Las Vegas Revew Journal, who also voted it as having the Best Choreography of all the shows in the city too.
Fashionistas Show in Las Vegas

The Fashionistas is a gender-blending erotic extravaganza and a unique entertainment option never before seen on the Las Vegas Strip. With what critics call a “muscular and aggressive” staging technique, a hard-driving soundtrack, imaginative and unique costumes, and a humorous and sly story line, the Fashionistas pushes the envelope of human form, fashion and spectacle in high style.” www.fashionistastheshow.com

Playing at the Harmon Theater at Planet Hollywood, the Fashionistas is a highly memorable show. The costume designs are stunning and all original. There’s a large cast who have obviously rehearsed a lot. The music is a diverse mix of pieces from various sources that all fit together with surprising ease: Modonna, Led Zeppelin, Evanescence, Lords of Acid, Crystal Method, and Tool.
Fashionistas in Las Vegas
This is an electric show by John Stagliano. It’s intelligent and witty, humorous and slick without camp or cheese. It’s expertly produced and directed. Come along and see for yourself!

The Riviera, One Of The Classic Las Vegas Hotels

October 27th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Not many hotels in Las Vegas have celebrated their Golden Anniversary. The Riviera is one that has. It was opened in 1945. It’s known worldwide and it’s one of the best hotels in the area, known for big time emtertainment, superb casino action, and nostalgia.

The Riviera in Las Vegas
This is where much of the legendary Rat Pack action took place. They are all gone now and new entertainers have taken over. But will the new ones be remembered as much as Sinatra, Davis, Martin, et al? Probably not, but we can’t wallow in the past forever. Time moves on, and the Riviera has certainly moved with it. So, what does the Riviera have to offer today?

“Over 2000 refurbished oversized rooms offer maximum comfort and breathtaking views of the glittering Las Vegas Strip with its western scenic panoramas. Each accommodation has been attractively decorated, including all the important amenities Las Vegas has to offer for both leisure and business travelers. Our guests can also enjoy the Riviera’s Convention Center, a self-contained full-service experience, all under one roof, serving tradeshows, conferences and major corporate and industry shows alike.” www.rivierahotel.com

Thisd is certainly a quality hotel. It has a wedding chapel, a casino, restaurants and much, much more. The name, Riviera, spells quality in a sublime manner. If you want to feel special, there’s no better place to feel it than here - at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas!

Las Vegas Casinos, On An Upward Turn, Or A Downward Dive?

October 27th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas is a city that constantly changes. Many of us who don’t regularly frequent the place may still have an image of bright neon lights, clicking chips, The Rat Pack, or Elvis, and the chance to win, win, win!

Is it still like that? Not really. Las Vegas has gone more and more mainstream. The glitzy image is fading. Casinos still abound, but they are increasingly the less attractive attraction in this city. Sin City? That’s a name it got from an earlier time. The city fathers have tried to erase that image, but maybe Las Vegas is now living up to it better than before!

“A brief sojourn in the new Las Vegas, where growth is booming but you have to search a bit to find the blackjack tables, raises a few questions. Is gambling played out in its historical capital? Now that it has gone mainstream, is gambling a discretionary spending industry, tethered to the flagging fortunes of the American consumer? And, really, just how much of Celine Dion can one city take?”

Las Vegas Casinos
These are some of the questions asked by www.slate.com. Eugene Christiansen notes:

“Bugsy Siegel opened the Flamingo casino in Vegas in 1946. For virtually all of history, there’s been more demand than supply.”

Has that changed? Is the “new” Las Vegas becoming a gambling-less city? Will the attractions, the pseudo Parisian streets and Venetian gondolas, become the major reason for people to visit the city that carved its reputation on casinos and gambling? Maybe…

“As the strip fills up with condos and veteran casino operators tout their malls and variety shows, Native American tribes and states are seeking to provide local residents with gaming options. California now has 55 Indian casinos, whose combined haul now rivals that of Las Vegas.”

Maybe Nevada’s claim on being the gambling state is receding. It begins to look as if other parts of America are providing gambling to its eager residents. Kansas has started to open the doors on gambling. Massachusetts too. Maybe it won’t be long before all of America looks a bit like las Vegas.

The Vegas Mob Tour, Las Vegas

October 26th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Vegas Mob Tour refers of course to the Mob, as in organized crime. This is a tour that exposes the more sordid side of Sin City. The tour will take you through the city to places where murders have taken place. Where people have disappeared under strange circumstances and where tough-looking individuals wearing pin-striped suits and fedora hats weaved their way in and out of society.

“People are fascinated by anything about Las Vegas. They want to hear about the celebrities, the casinos, the mob and all that’s synonymous with this town.”

That’s what Robert Allen, CEO and founder of The Vegas Mob Tour has to say, and he’s right too. This is a city where glitter and glitz go hand in hand with the unpalatable side of doing business. Celebrities like Frank Sinatra and Elvis may have had their names in lights, but there’s a much darker side to the Las Vegas history.
The Las Vegas Mob Tour

“Strange tales of Sin City’s colorful past fill the air.
You will hear about the notorious gangster/casino builder Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel and infamous mob enforcers Tony “The Ant” Spilotro and Frank Cullotta. Guests learn the truth about casino boss Frank “Lefty”Rosenthal, as well as celebrity deaths, suicides and many other strange and puzzling Nevada mysteries.” www.vegasmobtour.com

This is a tour for those who enjoy a little bit of spine chilling, but don’t want to be permanantly scarred. If you think you could enjoy visiting crime scenes where gangsters were shot in cold blood, then this attraction is for you!

Las Vegas Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino

October 24th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Harrah’s Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino stands right in the middle of the world famous Strip. The hotels that surround it are generally more expensive, more elegant and more sumptuous. This is a very good thing, because it means that the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino represents really great value for you.

The hotel has nine restaurants and cafes. The Cockeyed Clam is one great example. Here you’ll find New England-style offerings. The name of the restaurant kinda gives you a clue as to what to expect. Their clam chowder certainly needs a special mention, “…made with special herbs and fresh cherrystone clams flown in from New England.” And there’s more…

“…have a Martha Vineyard’s salad, prepared with Boston Bibb lettuce. And, there’s spinach artichoke dip baked with Vermont white cheddar cheese.
IMPERIAL PALACE HOTEL & CASINO
“All fried fish selections are hand-breaded with either batter made from Samuel Adams beer, another New England favorite, or Cockeyed Clam’s signature panko and cornmeal breading.” www.ieatvegas.com

You could also try the Embers. It serves steaks and seafood, and does a great job too. There’s also the Fireside diner with its Southwestern cuisine, seafood, chops, ribs, chicken and steak. And if Chinese is more your style, there’s the Ming serving great Mandarin and Cantonese food.

Elvis Las Vegas Weddings are a big business in Vegas.

October 23rd, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Weddings have become big business in Las Vegas. And somewhere along the line Elvis Presley has become tied up in it all. Elvis, of course, only had one wedding of his own, which was pretty surprising considering the number of weddings that his contemporaries got through.

Elvis’ wedding to Priscilla took place in Las Vegas, so I guess that does make some kind of a tenuous connection. Their only child, a daughter, Lisa Marie, has been married four times, so the Elvis connection in Las Vegas with weddings is probably stronger than it first seems.

The Can’t Help Falling in Love - Elvis Wedding in Las Vegas is flamboyant if nothing else. The bride can walk down the aisle with Elvis and have him give her away. OK, it’s not really Elvis, of course. It’s a lookalike, one of the many hundreds in Las Vegas.

And it’s not just a first time marriage that you can have either.
Las Vegas Elvis Wedding

” If you are renewing your vows, Elvis can also perform your ceremony, giving you the opportunity to exchange the infamous Elvis Vows.” www.elvisweddings.com

An Elvis wedding is not overly cheap to purchase. But this is your big day, so who cares. You can have a wide range of options. These include having no less than two Elvis’s representing different parts of his career. You can have him sing up to five songs, and you can choose your Elvis theme, from gold lame to white jumpsuit and everything in between.

A Can’t Help falling In Love - Elvis Wedding is everything you might expect. It’s for the adventurous who want a different kind of wedding in a setting that has glamour and glitz. You’ll get the outfits, the sultry looks and the songs. And only when it is all over will you hear, “Elvis has left the building…”

Las Vegas and the The Jesse James Horse Ride

October 22nd, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

We’ve all seen a western movie or two. Perhaps we’ve also secretly wished we could have seen the prairies from the perspective of someone on horseback. Or maybe we sometimes dream of being an outlaw in the Wild West. It’s a romantic image and one that does no harm to escape to occasionally. Well, with The Jesse James Horse Ride activity tour you don’t have to imagine it. You can really do it!

“Named after Jesse James, this wildly popular Las Vegas horseback riding adventure is often compared to being a scene out of the movies, except you’ll be the one riding off into the sunset!” www.sagebrushranchadventures.com

Maybe it wasn’t all like the ramantic image that the movies portray. But who cares anyway! It’s fund to dream. It’s fun to let your imagination run wild. It’s just fun to let your hair down and forget all about the office, the kids at home, or the traffic on the freeway. Let the dirt beneath your horse’s hooves be the freeway and relax.

This tour begins when you get picked up from your hotel. It takes 45 minutes or so to drive you out to the ranch where it all begins. There the friendly cowboy and cowgirls will help you out and get you fitted up for the horse ride you will never forget. You’ll set off on the east side of the Moapa Valley between a backdrop of mountains and desert.
Jesse James Horse Ride Las Vegas
Before long you’ll be passing old disused mines of the 1800s after you’ve crossed the Muddy River. Here yoyu can see horses, cattle big horn sheep and more. Here the scenery is from deep inside every western you’ve ever seen. Don’t be too surprised is you catch a glimpse of Jesse James himself…

Las Vegas Tours, The Amargosa Buggy Tour

October 22nd, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Too many visitors to Las Vegas stay in Las Vegas for the duration of their visit. Sure, there’s lots to see in the city, but don’t think that there’s nothing else to see. There’s a whole world of tours outside of the city just waiting to be explored and enjoyed. So be adventurous and get on a tour away from casino, hotels and bright flashing lights. There’s fun to be had, so go out and find it!

One of the best and the simplest tours is the Amargosa Buggy Tour. You’ll be picked up from your downtown hotel in Las Vegas and be taken out of the city traveling for a cuple of hours out to where the sand dunes stand up to 500 feet high. This is where you will take to a buggy and try out your skills. You’ll have a full four hours to get up to speed, so plenty of time to practice.

The buggies are pretty much like your regular car, with brakes, gears, accelerator and steering. You need a full complement of four person per buggy. If this cannot be fulfilled, then you willl not undertake the tour and your money will be refunded.
Amargosa Buggy Tour Las Vegas

“The safest off-road vehicles are used on the dunes and they come equipped with roll cages, seatbelts, and helmets for your safety. You as the renter take the responsibility to operate the vehicle responsibly. Rolling the buggie is the result of irresponsible operation.” www.just-tours.co.uk

This is a fun tour. It’s a toys for boys kind of day that you won’t forget - even if you’re a girl!

Las Vegas Shows, Mesmerized at the Planet Hollywood

October 20th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Planey Hollywood Las Vegas
This is a show where you can either see it or be it. This is comedy hypnosis turning into unorganized chaos. Bit it’s fun all the way through, so it’s definitely worth staying the course, come what may.

Mesmerized plays at the V Theater. It’s a high energy show that mixes comedy with hot dance and invites audience participation - and gets it by the barrel load! There’s a lot, and I mean a LOT, of adult humor. The audience throw themselves into helping out Damien, the main hypnotist, and you will open your eyes wider and wider at what comes out from their unleashed subconscious minds. This is a revealing show, to say the least!

Don’t come to the show expecting just another hypnosis routine. This is everything but that. Damian may seem just another comedian who uses hypnisis, but he is a Certified Master Hypnotherapist. He’s appeared on TV, he’s been on films, and he’s had radio appearances. In 1999 he was nominated for the Prix Gemaux.

Mesmerized has been described as being the wildest show on the Strip. It is. Believe the hype!
Mesmerized Las Vegas Show V Theater at Planet Hollywood

“With David Saxe’s production background and creative mind combined with Damian’s hypnosis talent, Mesmerized brings a whole new hypnosis show to the Las Vegas Strip. “It is more than just a hypnosis show, it is a mixture of hypnosis, comedy, and showgirls,” said David Saxe, Show Producer and CEO of V Theater.” http://ticket.lasvegas.net

At Hooters, of course, you can find the world famous “Hooter Girls,” and in Las Vegas there is the largest group of them to be found in the entire planet!

Hooters Restaurants are popular. That’s why you should expect to have to wait in line, and the Las Vegas Hooters is no exception either. The Hooters Casino Hotel in Las Vegas is always busy. It’s boisterous and busy and loud. The music is always pounding, so don’t expect quiet soothing evenings where you can whisper to each other; at Hooters you need to shout!

Hooters in Las Vegas has a large circular bar right in the middle of the restaurant. It’s a favorite place for hanging out and people watching. The restaurant proper has several seating areas where there are tables and booths.

Hooters in Las Vegas is famous for many things, but mainly it is famous for its variety of Chicken Wings. Their menu is always varied, but their 50-Plate is definitely worth a try.

Rio Casino and Hotel Las Vegas

October 19th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Rio Hotel and Casino Las Vegas
The Rio casino is housed in what may be the most hectic, noisy, and party going hotel in town. Here they talk about a “carnival atmosphere” and they are right. They have the most scantily vclad waitresses in town too. They can deliver a beer to you and sing and dance more or less at the same time. Bewildering!

This is an adult paradise. The management discourage children on the premises, and when you go there you’ll understand why. It’s not hard core and heavy, but a bit risque at times, to say the least.

The Rio is off the Strip on Flamingo Road The casino boasts 120,000 square feet of space to indulge yourself in. There’s all the usual stuff: blackjack super megabucks, stud poker, let it ride, Caribbean poker, Baccarat, pai gow, roulette, craps, keno and more. They also have 1,621 slot machines.

The Rio Casino has an excellent race and sportsbook. It has a 170-seat race and sportsbook area. there are no less than 120 TV’s and three huge screens to watch. They offer daily action on all the major sports events.

You can also get future odds placed on most of the large major events. When it comes to the big annual stuff like the Kentucky Derby, the Super Bowl, the Breeders’ Cup, etc, get in early if you want some action.

Las Vegas Ultimate Bachelorette Party Package

October 17th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Bachelorette. It’s a strange name for bride to be on her last night out with her girl friends. Mind you, in Scotland they call it a Hen Night, which is probably even worse! But in Las Vegas on The Ultimate Bachelorette Party Package the emphasis is on fun, and lots of it. It’s a night you will never forget, though that’s probably because you won’t remember it in the first place to be able to forget it!
Las Vegas Ultimate Bachelorette Party Package
This Las Vegas night tour takes in no less than 10 of the hottest night clubs in town. In the Body English you will find yourself in an English rock star’s living room. It’s a classy place that has two bars and a lrage dance floor. They expect decent dress here, so no baggy jeans or tennis shoes please.

The Coyote Ugly is a southern style venue. It’s a bar and dance saloon that really rocks. The Ghostbar is strange. You get to see the Vegas Strip from 55 foors up. Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce has been described as a, “back-alley burlesque house” and they could be right too. Jet is a night club that is actually in the Mirage. This is an “A” list hang out, so check out your neighbors…

All this night clubbing may get you wanting to slow down and luxuriate. Well, that’s where the Late Night Empire may help out. This is one comfortable place for sure. The Rain Nightclub is a fantasy playground for adults only, so don’t be a prude. There’s a lot of water here to keep it cool - and glistening…

Studio 54 has acrobats and bungee jumpers. this is an action place with spectacles to astonish you. Tabú is exactly the opposite; a place where it CAN happen. This is a subtle and senuous place. Tangerine takes you back to the burlesque of the 1920s. The m usic will take you back too. This is one sexy spot! And finally, there’s the VooDoo Lounge. Here you can taste the Caribbean. Try the four rums mix with tropical fruit juice combined. Hmmm… Magic!

Las Vegas VIP Deluxe Helicopter Tour

October 17th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour
The Grand Canyon - the only natural wonder of the world that is actually greater than its publicity. I can vouch for that personally. I visited the Grand Canyon in April of 1995. I expected it to be “Grand,” but what I saw literally took my breath away. I haven’t been back since, but I hope to be. Maybe I’ll take the Las Vegas VIP Deluxe Helicopter Tour Las Vegas VIP Deluxe Helicopter Tour and see it all over again from a different perspective.

This is a tour that really deserves the title of VIP. From the Las Vegas hotel limousine pick up to the limousine return, some three and three-quarters of an hour later, you will be treated like a VIP, and you will see some sights that few have seen. You probably won’t believe that it all was real, which is why you need to take lots and lots of photos to remind yourself later that it really did happen!

You will be taken to the helicopter which will fly you to the Grand Canyon where you will descend 3,200 feet down to the canyon floor. This is in deep Hualapai Indian Territory and nearby the mighty Colorado River flows thundering past. Down on the canyon floor you will enjoy a champagne picnic in a paradise setting the like of which you have never seen before.

You will continue your tour up to the canyon rim and soar along on your way to the Valley of Fire, so-called because of its red rock formations that seem to be constantly on fire. All too soon you will be back in Las Vegas and the dream will be over. But it sure will have been worth it!
