Las Vegas Casinos Stop Time

November 30th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

When you enter the Las Vegas casinos, the first thing you´ll notice is the noise and flashing lights. There is an aura of excitement that clings to the best Las Vegas casinos and draws you in. The next thing you´ll notice is the complete lack of timepieces.

While in a casino, you can enjoy gambling for as long as the money lasts, without feeling the pressure to give up and head to bed. Without clocks or windows to show the passing of time, Las Vegas casinos really do make it feel like time has stopped, leaving you to stretch out your vacation for as long as you want.

Las Vegas Attractions: Freemont Street

November 27th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

There´s no visiting Las Vegas without seeing Freemont Street, one of the biggest Las Vegas attractions. Five blocks that appear by day to be an ordinary pedestrian street with a canopy overhead . . . but by night, the canopy transforms into an amazing light show that is not to be missed.

Originally started in June of 2004, this spectacular Las Vegas attraction has drawn crowds ever since. The arched canopy is made up of over 12.5 million LED lights that are computer controlled to portray vivid pictures and animations. And though the original Las Vegas attraction was impressive, the Freemont Street Light and Sound show was recently upgraded to Viva Vision, which gives crisper pictures and a more dazzling experience.

Las Vegas Attraction, Freemont Street

There is nothing like walking down Freemont Street at night, enjoying the music and three brand-new productions designed specifically for the show. The high rez pictures can be seen from just about every angle on the street and speakers blast the music and voices to go with the images you´ll be seeing. It really is an amazing experience.

Stay close to the action by booking a room at the Golden Nugget Hotel where you can book a room in the 22 story building that overlooks the Las Vegas light attraction. Just walk out the front door to enjoy the show!

Top Las Vegas Hotel Implodes

November 26th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The most famous Las Vegas hotels have been around for a long time, but gradually, they are getting phased out to make room for newer, sleeker accomodations. In recent years, the Aladdin, Landmark and Sands hotels have all been demolished. Earlier this year, the Stardust, home to many Las Vegas hotel memories, was imploded and now the New Frontier Hotel and Casino has gone the way of so many others.

The New Frontier was imploded on November 13 by the Elad Group, which bought the Las Vegas hotel for the express purpose of removing it and building a new, bigger and better hotel in its place. The Plaza-style hotel that will be going up in the space is to have over 3,500 rooms and is budgeted to run about 5 million U.S. dollars.

Las Vegas Sahara Hotel and Casino

While it´s exciting to see new Las Vegas hotels that feature the luxury we´ve come to expect of the city, it´s nice to check out some of the older hotels on the Strip, too, before they are demolished. If you fancy a stay in an original Las Vegas hotel, you might try the Boulder Station Hotel and Casino, the Sahara or the Flamingo, all of which have seen more than a few years on the Strip.

Las Vegas Restaurants For Less

November 21st, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas restaurants are often thought of as cheap, all you can eat buffets that are carefully located beside the casino floor. But not all Las Vegas restaurants are the same, there are plenty of higher quality ones out there, too. Once you´ve had a $2.99 steak dinner, though, you might not be ready to pay extravagant prices, which is fine, since you can buy the Las Vegas MealTicket which gives you three square meals for one low price.

The way it works is this: You buy your Las Vegas restaurant MealTicket for up to five days and with that ticket, you can eat three meals per day, breakfast, lunch, and supper, at any of the participating restaurants. So by paying one low price for the Las Vegas MealTicket, you can eat out for virtually nothing.

And the restaurants aren´t just casino-side places . . . you´ll be dining out at Planet Hollywood, the NASCAR cafe and other top Las Vegas restaurants. Plus, if you book before December 31st, there is a deal going on, so you get an extra 20% off, which means more coins for the slots!

Whether or not you´re Irish, there´s something delightful about sitting down to some Guiness stew and Las Vegas can give you the authentic experience, though it´s nowhere near Ireland. Jack´s Irish Pub,at the Palace Station Hotel in Las Vegas is the perfect place to celebrate some wins on the casino floor, or console yourself over losses.

Las Vegas Adventure Tours

November 20th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Looking for some adventure in Las Vegas, amid the fun of the blackjack tables and lobster buffets? Well, look no further than the Las Vegas Raiders of the Lost Mine tour. This is one for any adventurer in your group.

On this Las Vegas tour, you´ll be mounting ATVs to head out into the El Dorado Canyon. El Dorado really means The Golden and this name refers to the Old West history of this area. This Las Vegas tour is not for the faint of heart . . . you´ll be winding up the canyon sides on the ATV, exploring ancient abandoned gold mines and finally, taking a well-earned rest to eat a picnic lunch alongside the cool water of the Colorado River. And, this being Las Vegas, you´ll have your chance to try your hand at panning for gold in a pretty mountain spring. Just be careful not to catch gold fever or you´ll never come out again!

Get Some Las Vegas Exercise

November 20th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Hanging out in Las Vegas is great, but with so many all you can eat buffets happening, you might notice your belt needing to be let out after a day or two. To prevent the inevitable Las Vegas bloat, here are a few solutions:

Walk
The Strip is huge and just hiking from one end to the other is going to give you a great workout. Take the opportunity to walk down to the Aladdin to see the Pirate ship light display, head up to Fremont Street by foot instead of taking a cab, or just wander around and enjoy yourself.

Bike
What better way to get some exercise than to take a Valley of Fire Mountain Bike Tour? Granted, this is for the more fit in the group, but if you enjoy biking, this is a wonderful way to enjoy some incredible scenery.

Valley of Fire Mountain Bike Tour

Hit the Gym
Many of the Las Vegas hotels, such as the MGM Grand, have their own gyms right in the hotel. Take full advantage of that and do a morning or an evening workout to offset those calories ingested during your massive lobster lunch.

There´s no reason to leave your health behind in Las Vegas, not with so many wonderful options for enjoying some great exercise!

Las Vegas Glider Tour

November 17th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

There are a variety of Las Vegas air tours, but the best of all has to be the Scenic Desert Glider Flight. This Las Vegas tour doesn´t have the irritating noise of aircraft engines or helicopter blades whirring above . . . it´s just you and the whistle of air flowing over the canopy.

Gliders are a very light aircraft with a larger than normal wingspan. They need to be towed up into the air behind a proper airplane, but once released, they soar silently over the desert, allowing for an unobstructed view. These aircraft can stay airborne as long as there is wind to carry them upwards. The warm spirals of air that you see birds soaring on can also be used by a glider, to soar ever higher. Your flight duration depends entirely on how good the desert thermals are the day of the tour.

Scenic Glider Flight over Nevada Desert

The Las Vegas Scenic Glider Flight is an excellent, unique way to see Las Vegas. It is a great Las Vegas tour to take if you don´t have much time, as well, since the tour lasts between 30-45 minutes. It´s something you can plan to do in one afternoon and still have time to walk the Strip.

The Las Vegas Hotel for Locals

November 17th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The best place to hang out in any city is where the locals go and Las Vegas is no exception. The Las Vegas hotel and casino that is most popular for local gamblers is the Palace Station Hotel and Casino. If you hit the casino floors here, you´re sure to find some native Las Vegas residents playing blackjack or trying their luck at the slots.

Las Vegas Palace Station Hotel and Casino

Apart from being a great casino and local hang-out, the Palace Station Hotel is a charming place to stay. The front of the Las Vegas hotel is designed to look like a 19th century railroad station. While the interior is far more glamorous and elegant than those old railroad stations, it does capture the feel with architecture styling from that period.

Choose between a room that overlooks the courtyard or a luxury tower room. Though this Las Vegas hotel is off the Strip, it still has a wonderful view from the tower. It´s easy to see why the locals like the place, it´s quieter than the rowdier hotels on the Strip, but it still offers the amenities like bars, eleven separate restaurants, as well as two outdoor pools and a sun deck where you can get bar service.

The Palace Station Hotel is the perfect place for anyone who wants to avoid the hustle and bustle of the strip, but still have access to casinos and great food.

Las Vegas Lake Tours

November 15th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Despite the fact that Las Vegas is located in the desert, there are a few bodies of water in the area. One of these is Lake Mead, a man-made lake that is filled by the Colorado River. Created by the Hoover Dam, Las Vegas´ Lake Mead is a popular destination for tourists.

The lake features several beaches and, of course, the Hoover Dam. If you really want to get up close and personal, though, you might consider taking a kayaking trip. You can be picked up in your Las Vegas hotel for the tour and taken to the lake. Once you arrive, you´ll be given a kayak and head out to explore the beautiful Lake Mead.

Lake Mead Kayaking

Even if you´ve never kayaked before, this is a great tour. It´s fairly easy to pick up the basics of kayaking and there are professional instructors and guides on this Las Vegas tour.
