The most famous Las Vegas hotels have been around for a long time, but gradually, they are getting phased out to make room for newer, sleeker accomodations. In recent years, the Aladdin, Landmark and Sands hotels have all been demolished. Earlier this year, the Stardust, home to many Las Vegas hotel memories, was imploded and now the New Frontier Hotel and Casino has gone the way of so many others.
The New Frontier was imploded on November 13 by the Elad Group, which bought the Las Vegas hotel for the express purpose of removing it and building a new, bigger and better hotel in its place. The Plaza-style hotel that will be going up in the space is to have over 3,500 rooms and is budgeted to run about 5 million U.S. dollars.
While it´s exciting to see new Las Vegas hotels that feature the luxury we´ve come to expect of the city, it´s nice to check out some of the older hotels on the Strip, too, before they are demolished. If you fancy a stay in an original Las Vegas hotel, you might try the Boulder Station Hotel and Casino, the Sahara or the Flamingo, all of which have seen more than a few years on the Strip.
