Las Vegas: Ride Into the Sunset

December 9th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Did you know that some of John Wayne´s famous westerns were filmed in the desert near Las Vegas? The area is so beautiful and the setting perfect for those Old West films, and you can ride into the sunset yourself on a horseback tour.

Las Vegas by horseback

Horseback is really a great way to see the area around Las Vegas. It´s a laid back manner of touring and lets you enjoy the countryside the way the original settlers did. Ride through the Moapa Valley, past herds of cattle and then wind your way down trails that are literally centuries old.

There are lots of old Las Vegas mines out this way and you will be riding past them . . . you can almost feel the ghosts of the old-time miners peering at you from their dark depths. Take the evening ride and you really will be able to ride into the sunset!

Regardless of whether you ride out of Las Vegas early or late, there will be a big feast, fit for a cowboy, ready for you upon your return. While the horses get a rubdown and some oats, you´ll be chowing down on prime chuckwagon fare, baked beans, steak and corn, among other delicious homey foods. Just what exactly is on the menu depends entirely on whether you do a lunch or a supper ride. This horse riding adventure really is a wonderful way to see the area around Las Vegas.
