Las Vegas isn´t exactly the place you would imagine as a picnic area, but there are some very beautiful places nearby that are ideal for relaxing with a few sandwiches and a Coke. Whether you are looking to create a romantic rendezvous with a loved one or hang out with friends, here are a couple of places to do so.

Lake Mead is the ideal place, fairly close to Las Vegas, to enjoy a little kayaking on the clear water and then have a picnic, looking up at the Hoover Dam. Satisfy your sightseeing urge by taking a tour of the Hoover Dam when you´ve finished, get some photos and enjoy this amazing man-made wonder.

Another great place near Las Vegas where you can sit down to eat is the Grand Canyon. Talk about a view! Getting down to the bottom of the canyon and eating beside the azure waters of the Colorado River is even better and the best way to do that (apart from doing quite a bit of hiking), is to take a helicopter ride.

So you see, Las Vegas isn´t such an odd place to enjoy an outdoor meal after all!
