June 24th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

There´s nothing better than a great deal and Las Vegas attractions are well aware of the fact. You´ll find plenty of deals in this city, but not all of them are really that great. For example, the $1.99 salad bar might not be the best option for staying healthy! However, you can still find lots of great deals.

If you are traveling with someone else, then a 2 for 1 special is ideal. It lets you cut your spending in half, if you find enough of them! It really is possible to check out a lot of different Las Vegas attractions without having to pay very much at all. If you are splitting the costs with a friend or family member, it will all be quite affordable and leaves you that much more cash to gamble in the casinos, or you could use it to bring a couple more family members along on your trip.

Las Vegas Attractions: Death Valley is Closer Than You Think

June 16th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Death Valley is just one of many Las Vegas attractions that most people don´t realize they can visit while in Las Vegas. Most people think of the Grand Canyon or the Hoover Dam when they consider day trips out of their vacation destination. However, Death Valley is definitely a place you will want to see if you have the opportunity.

Las Vegas attractions in Death Valley

There is far more to this Las Vegas attraction than just desert. While one of the hottest places on Earth, Death Valley is still a fascinating place to check out. There are some very interesting salt plains here, as well as petroglyphs that you can check out, as well as an old ghost town that is still standing in the dry desert of Death Valley.

One of the biggest Las Vegas attractions, however, is Scotty´s Castle. Though unfinished, this mansion stands as a tribute to one man´s love of the valley and is fully furnished. Scotty himself is buried in the hills above his home where he was able to recover from his joint problems.

Death Valley is a Las Vegas attraction that is near enough to be visited in a day trip and can be a wonderful addition to your Las Vegas itinerary.

Ghostly Las Vegas Lures Ghost Hunters

June 9th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas is the scene of many grisly deaths and that has given way to more than a few ghost stories around this city. Ghost hunters have come to Las Vegas looking for these specters and more than a few famous ghost hunters have found evidence of beings from beyond the door of death.

It´s really not hard to believe that Las Vegas would be full of ghosts. After all, this is the area that saw more than a murder a day during the height of the gold rush and as they say, violent deaths make for restless spirits and this is particularly true of Las Vegas. It´s what draws those interested in paranormal events to this city.

Among the ghost stories that abound in Las Vegas, there are quite a few interesting ones. For example, there is a small playground in a certain Las Vegas park where the ghost of a small boy plays on the swings. He died in a tragic accident near the park. The child ghost is joined by three adult females, unknown to anyone who has seen them. Suicidal jumpers still hang out in the Stratosphere, as well, and it´s said that Elvis is still wandering the Hilton, perhaps checking out his impersonators.

For anyone interested in learning more about ghosts, Las Vegas should definitely be on the list of ghostly places to visit!

Las Vegas: The Best Place to Skydive

May 28th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas has some hot weather to offer. It rarely rains in this city and the weather is pretty nice all year round with clear skies and lots of sunshine. That makes Las Vegas the ideal place to head up into the air for a skydiving adventure.

Las Vegas skydiving

Las Vegas is the ideal place to go skydiving, particularly if it´s your first time up. There are special tandem skydive packages available. This allows you to jump with a professional who knows exactly what he or she is doing and you´ll be in good hands. Eliminating the insecurity is the best way to get over your fear of jumping out of a plane and having someone with several years of experience strapped to you is the ideal way to do just that.

You´ll get a great view of the entire city and the brown desert. It´s an amazing sight from high up and while you could enjoy this view from a plane or helicopter, there´s something about actually falling right into that scenery that makes it a really special experience.

If you´re looking for something a little different to do in Las Vegas, then skydiving could definitely spice things up. It´s certainly worth a try!

Las Vegas Neon Makes the City Come Alive

May 27th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The bright lights of Las Vegas are something that really make this city stand out. Whenever a movie is set in Las Vegas, you can pretty much guarantee several shots of the neon signs of casinos and hotels. The neon lights of Las Vegas have long been a major attraction and while by day the city looks pretty, by night, it truly comes alive!

Las Vegas lights

Since many famous casinos and hotels are being torn down these days to make way for more modern marvels, you might wonder what has happened to the older signs. Don´t worry, these didn´t go the way of the buildings . . . they´ve been salvaged. Some were sold off to the highest bidder, but the majority of Las Vegas´ retired neon signs are actually in a “graveyard” where tourists can walk through a forest full of these hallmark symbols of an era gone by.

These neon signs are no longer lit, but that doesn´t mean they aren´t impressive. You´ll enjoy checking out some of the most famous neon signs in Las Vegas, like the ones from the Sahara and the Aladdin.

The best way to enjoy Las Vegas lights is to see the current signs in action. While walking down the Strip might be a fun way to check out those signs while getting some exercise, there´s nothing like flying overhead and looking down on the maze of lights that makes up the city.

Perfect Las Vegas Attraction for Active Tourists

May 25th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas attractions tend to require quite a bit of movement whether you like it or not. Just hiking up and down the Strip is a lot of exercise for many and just inside the massive casinos, you will find yourself being pretty active. However, that´s nothing compared to our next Las Vegas attraction . . . Lake Mead.

Las Vegas attraction, Lake Mead

At Lake Mead, you won´t just be admiring the view, though there is plenty of that to go around. The Hoover Dam is right there for you to check out, but the cool waters of the lake are the focal point of this Las Vegas attraction! While swimming is just fine, you can also rent a kayak and go exploring.

This lake was created when the Hoover Dam was built, so it´s a man-made lake that offers a lot of area to cover. Depending on the amount of water being let through the dam, the lake´s water level fluctuates quite a bit and there are times when you can even see one of the towns that was flooded out in this valley. There were several small towns that were abandoned for the purposes of creating the dam, but most are hidden in the depths of the lake.

If you´re looking for an active Las Vegas attraction, Lake Mead is it. Take a half day kayaking trip and really get a workout.

Las Vegas Attractions: The Techatticup Mine

May 22nd, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Of all the Las Vegas attractions available to check out, the Techatticup Mine is perhaps one of the most interesting. The Salvage vein, a rich vein of gold that ran up the hills above the Colorado River, was discovered in Eldorado Canyon in 1961. There, the Techatticup Mine was built.

This area is a major Las Vegas attraction because of the interesting rock formations and scenery that surrounds the canyon. This is where early gold rush prospectors came to sift their fortune from the river. However, when they discovered that there was so much gold to be had in the hills, the Techatticup Mine was born.

Assorted disputes appeared over this famous Las Vegas attraction. People fought over who owned the mine, whether or not the working conditions were fair and who should be getting a proportion of the gold being mined. These were bloody times and the mine quickly had a lot of blood hanging around it as killings became a daily occurrence.

This mine wasn´t just a gold mine, though. It went on to become one of the most successful mines in the region, turning out not only gold, but silver, copper and lead, too! It´s still there for tourists to check out, a Las Vegas attraction full of history and phantoms.

Making the Past Come Alive

May 19th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The shady past of Sin City is a big Las Vegas attraction. People have seen it played out in dozens of movies, read about it and enjoyed the stories as they have been told through the generations. But you still don´t know the half of it! The city is one that has not only a shady past, but a violent and mob related one, as well.

Las Vegas attractions, the mob

The Mafia was crucial in making Las Vegas what it is today. Their methods may have been a little unorthodox, but they got the job done. Care to speculate on how many bodies have been dumped in the foundations of the older casinos along the Strip? Well, no one knows for sure, but at least one person has ended up in the concrete drink!

Most Las Vegas attractions are pretty tame. The history of Las Vegas, though, is something else. Filled with shootouts and gunfights, murders and traitors, it´s a story that you will find fascinating and one that is absolutely true. These men really did live and they changed the course of history, if not for everyone, then at least for this Nevada city.

The mob is still hinted at in these parts and if you are interested in all things mafia, you´ll definitely want to take a walk through Las Vegas!

Las Vegas Attractions: Enjoy the Flora of the Nevada Desert

May 11th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas has plenty of man-made attractions, but you might be surprised to find out that there is more to Las Vegas. Attractions like the New York roller coaster and the Coca Cola factory are nothing compared to the wild beauty of the desert.

Many people just assume that the Nevada Desert is windswept sand, maybe with a cactus here or there, but you´d be amazed at how many different species actually live out in the sand dunes! These Las Vegas attractions are really something else. You´ll find that you can see quite a bit from the road, but it´s not likely you´ll get a good look at everything you want to.

The best way to really check out the plants that grow around Las Vegas is to take a dirt bike or ATV out into the desert. You´ll be able to slow down and get a good look at the plants around you. It´s a truly wonderful way to connect with the earth and to create a bond between yourself and Las Vegas that lasts for ever.

Las Vegas attractions are many, but by leaving out the natural Las Vegas attractions, you are really missing out on a lot. It´s a good idea to book ahead as a method of ensuring that you´ll have a space on the tour that you are aiming for.

Las Vegas Attractions: Spend a Day on Lake Mead

March 18th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Lake Mead is big Las Vegas attraction. Sitting behind the Hoover Dam, you´ll see this blue reservoir lake on most Las Vegas tours to the Grand Canyon or the dam. It is the largest man made lake in the States and was named after Elwood Mead who played an important part in the planning and commissioning of the dam and lake.

Lake Mead, Las Vegas attraction

These days, this Las Vegas attraction is one that brings people from all over the states it spans, Nevada and Arizona, as well as further away. You can camp on the shore, enjoy swimming or kayaking on the lake or just sunbathing on the beach. Lake Mead is quite the interest point, with it´s center basin and four “arms”.

Probably the best way to check out the popular Las Vegas attraction is to simply head out in a kayak. This lets you get some exercise and spend a half day on the water, which is always a great experience. Kayaking is a relaxing way to see the local scenery, since you are sitting right down in the water and only the sound of your paddle slipping into the water will distract you from the sights. There´s something very special about gliding smoothly through the water in a nice kayak.

If you have the time, consider checking out one of the most beautiful Las Vegas attractions, Lake Mead. It´s definitely worth taking the time to enjoy.

March 8th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas attractions abound. There are literally hundreds of things to see while you are in this beautiful city and your most difficult task will be to narrow them down and actually choose just a handful to see. One of the great natural Las Vegas attractions is the Amargosa sand dunes.

Las Vegas Attractions: Lake Mead´s Fascinating Basins

March 3rd, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas is surrounded by marvels, both man-made and natural. Lake Mead is a combination of both. One of four lakes created by the construction of the Hoover Dam, this lake is made up of five distinct parts.

Las Vegas, Lake Mead

The center section of Lake Mead is called Virgin Basin and it features many beaches, though limited road access. From this center, four arms reach out, each one with its own name, Temple Basin, Gregg Basin, Overton Arm and Boulder Basin. In general, Boulder Basin is where the majority of tourists head since it is closest to Las Vegas (just a 30 minute drive) and there are plenty of hotels and activities here.

Lake Mead is the ideal place to cool off in the desert. As it is affected by the Hoover Dam and the Colorado River, this lake has levels that rise and fall, depending on the amount of water available at any given time. This can mean that the beaches change drastically and there is often new scenery to look at. With such an interesting lake so close to Las Vegas, it´s no wonder people flock here regularly.

Las Vegas Attractions to Add a Mob Museum

January 23rd, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Let´s face it, Las Vegas wouldn´t be what it is today if it weren´t for the likes of Meyer Lansky, Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal, Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel and Anthony “Tony the Ant” Spilotro. These famous Las Vegas mobsters are to be the focus of an upcoming Las Vegas attraction, the Mob Museum.

Las Vegas Attractions, Mob Tour

Rather than hide its seamy past, Las Vegas attractions like the Mob Museum will show what life was really like in the world of organized crime, back in the day. The FBI has even volunteered to donate photos, transcripts of wire taps and more incriminating evidence to help visitors to the Las Vegas attraction understand exactly what they went through to capture these infamous mob guys.

The bad news is that the museum isn´t set to open until 2010! However, if you want a Las Vegas attraction that highlights the underworld of Las Vegas back in the beginning, you can take the Las Vegas Mob Tour.

This Las Vegas attraction will take you to the scene of many mob crimes where you will be regaled with the true stories of what these men did to gain the power in Las Vegas. Learn all about their hidden dealings and murders and finally, how they died. It´s a fascinating tour.
