Las Vegas Videos: The Grand Canyon Skywalk

February 26th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

This video is simply amazing! Not only is it well-shot, it features some spectacular views of the Grand Canyon’s Skywalk and brilliant Native American music in the background. The Grand Canyon Skywalk is only 2.5 hours from Las Vegas and is a glass bridge that is suspended 4,000 feet above the canyon. It has a horseshoe shape and protrudes 65 feet from the edge. If you have never seen the Grand Canyon or have yet to see the skywalk, this is certainly a video to entice the appetite. Luckily when you visit Las Vegas and the surrounding areas, you don’t necessarily have to worry about losing all your money on the slots. You and the family (or friends) can always venture a few hours away to see some truly breathtaking natural views. If unable to visit, this video provides you with aerial shots you most likely would be unable to obtain on your own!

Las Vegas Videos: Fountain Show at the Bellagio Hotel

February 20th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas is one of the most luxurious hotels that exists in the city. If you can’t afford to stay there, you can always watch their beautiful music fountain shows that are displayed on an eight acre lake that is located in front of the hotel.

The movements of the water respond to the Bellagio Fountain music which varies, causing it to have slow movements and then rapid ones when the music grows more intense. Inspired by the Bellagio Resort in Lake Como Italy, the choreographed water is certainly a sight to see!

This video shows some of the music show and after watching it, it becomes quite clear that this is one of the many reasons why Las Vegas should be the next vacation trip you plan.

Las Vegas Sightseeing from the Air

February 6th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

In Las Vegas, sightseeing is part of the vacation. If you just stay in the casino the whole trip, you´ll really miss out on a lot of spectacular stuff! One of the most incredible ways to see Las Vegas and the surrounding area is from the air.

Whether you want to take a look at the Grand Canyon or the Hoover Dam, Las Vegas sightseeing tours exist to take you where you want to go, high above the desert. You can take a plane, glider or even a helicopter to do your touring in the sky, there are plenty of options to choose from.

Las Vegas Sightseeing Gliders: Enjoy soaring above the city in a small glider, a plane without an engine. You´ll be towed up by a tow plane and then released to balance on updrafts and air currents that will take you over several scenic areas.

Las Vegas Sightseeing Helicopters:
How would you like the ability to check out the best Las Vegas sights from the air, and then land in places where no one else can go? That´s what a helicopter can do for you! You´ll be able to hover over the Strip or perch on a red rock spire in the Valley of Fire.

Las Vegas Sightseeing Planes:
Another way to see Las Vegas from the air is to take a plane. Sure, you´ll catch a glimpse as you come in on your commercial flight, but that´s nothing compared to a low flying small plane that can take you right up close to the Hoover Dam or the Grand Canyon!

There are so many ways to see Las Vegas. You really don´t have to be bored for a minute!

Las Vegas Sightseeing Takes You to a Whole New Place

January 29th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas sightseeing probably brings to mind the Grand Canyon or the Hoover Dam, right? That´s not all there is to see in the Las Vegas area, though. In fact, there is a lot more to enjoy, but one of the fascinating features of the Nevada Desert is the sand.

Las Vegas sightseeing on sand dunes

The wind howls across the desert, whipping up small sand storms and deposits them in enormous sand dunes that continue to grow and change shape on a continual basis. They are something to see, very impressive mountains made entirely of sand! Ridges are formed by the wind, creating unique shapes and beautiful sand ripples, as if you were at the bottom of a sea.

The best way to check the sand dunes out is to take a Las Vegas sightseeing tour. Dune buggies are an excellent method of getting around out in the desert. They offer protection and are fun to handle. They can take on a sand dune with ease. If you are interested in this method of Las Vegas sightseeing, you will have an absolute blast charging up and down 500 foot dunes made of shifting sand. It´s quite the adventure.

As far as Las Vegas sightseeing goes, this is one of the better methods to see the desert. You´ll be close to the ground so you can check out the fascinating vegetation and critters that live here and you´ll be moving fast, so you can do a lot in a short tour. Why not check it out an dbook ahead to have your own sand dune adventure?

Have a Las Vegas BBQ at the Grand Canyon

January 13th, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

You´ve never had a true barbecue until you´ve had a Las Vegas BBQ . . . overlooking the sparkling blue Colorado River! Now that´s an outdoor meal to talk about. You can enjoy this spectacular view and food after checking out Las Vegas from the sky and then walking along the rim of the Grand Canyon in the West Rim Indian Country Deluxe Air and Land Tour.

Las Vegas BBQ and the Grand Canyon

While there are several Las Vegas tours that offer helicopter flights over Las Vegas or the Grand Canyon, this one takes you up in a small 6 or 8 passenger airplane. You´ll fly over the city, of course, but this Las Vegas tour also takes you over the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and Boulder City before heading out over the Grand Canyon.

If you thought the Grand Canyon was impressive from the rim, you will be awed by it from the air. The striations of the rock are truly incredible and peering down into the maze carved out by the water over thousands of years is amazing. You´ll have a second chance to see the Grand Canyon from above once you land and are bused to the West Rim. There, for a fee, you can walk out on the SkyWalk, a bridge that arcs over the canyon and allows a closer look than from the airplane.

After all this, you´ll have quite the appetite, so settle in to a West Rim BBQ, Las Vegas style! With such a view and great food, you won´t want to go back to the city after this Las Vegas sightseeing tour.

Enjoy Las Vegas from 2,000 Feet

January 3rd, 2008 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas is a spectacular sight from the ground, with towering buildings, elegant hotels and, of course, all that neon. But it is a truly awesome sight from the air.

Las Vegas from the air

Taking a helicopter up over Las Vegas is a great way to really get a feel for how huge it is. You´ll see the Las Vegas Strip in a whole new way . . . it´s a LOT longer than you would imagine from the ground. Freemont Street is something else when seen from above during the nightly shows, but that´s not all you´ll be oohing and awing over.

Heading out at night is fun and you will definitely appreciate the Las Vegas Strip under the cover of darkness more than during the day, but there are some very good reasons to go up over Las Vegas during the day, as well. Some trips include a flight over Las Vegas as well as taking you to the Grand Canyon, two great sights in one flight. Or you might prefer to combine a helicopter trip over Las Vegas with river rafting on the Colorado River. Whichever Las Vegas tour you select, you´re bound to enjoy the new view of Las Vegas.

Las Vegas: Enjoy the Grand Canyon in a Whole New Way

December 26th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Las Vegas is close enough to the Grand Canyon to make it a great day tour from the main city. However, simply driving around the Rim of the Grand Canyon is not as exciting as it could be. You want to really experience this major Las Vegas attraction? Then you need to take a walk on the Skywalk.

Las Vegas Grand Canyon Skywalk

The Skywalk takes you right over the Grand Canyon, and not in a helicopter. You will literally be standing over thin air, with only a thin bridge between your feet and 4,000 feet of emptiness down to the Colorado River, flowing bright blue between the colorful canyon walls. It is truly an amazing experience and you won´t have a better opportunity to get some incredible photos to take back to your friends and family. They won´t believe you got to do something so cool in Las Vegas.

There are several Las Vegas tours that will take you to the Skywalk, but you can also just show up at the West Rim and head out yourself. You won´t regret it.

Las Vegas: Lake Mead

December 13th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

Just 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas is the famous Lake Mead, a man-made lake that crosses the border between Nevada and California. Sparkling blue, the lake is a sight to see in the middle of the desert! It exists because of the Hoover Dam, which metes out the precious water to desert communities downstream.

Beneath the still waters of Lake Mead are several towns that were forced to evacuate when the dam was built to contain the Colorado River. You can still see the remains of St. Thomas, a small town that was evacuated in 1938, back when Las Vegas was in full swing.

Las Vegas Lake Mead

While there are plenty of impressive sights to see in and around Las Vegas, Lake Mead is one of the most tranquil that you´ll find here in the desert. Take a kayaking trip out on the lake or simply admire it from atop the Hoover Dam. It is one of Las Vegas´ most beautiful sights.

July 26th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

The Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat located at the Mirage on Las Vegas Boulevard is one of the favorite Las Vegas attractions for both young and old alike.

Started by the famous entertainers Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn, more commonly known as Siegfried & Roy who are known for their spectacular edge of your seat animal acts involving lions and tigers this Las Vegas attraction gives visitors the opportunity to see the lions and tigers up close and then turn around and enjoy the fun and peaceful antics of live dolphins.

A few of the rare large cats that can be seen at the Secret Garden are the beautiful and rare white lions, a snow leopard, both African and Asian leopards, a black panther and a golden tiger.

The Dolphin Habitat area of the Vegas attraction is not just for entertaining but also stresses education and awareness about dolphins. Made up of 2.5 million gallons of water the habitat has both above and below ground viewing areas and is a replica of the dolphin’s natural habitat.

For an added fee you can even try your hand at being a dolphin trainer and work next to the actual trainers assisting with care, feeding, and training of the dolphins.

The Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat are open 7 days a week and tickets are available for each area individually or for the two combined. Either way you won’t want to miss this wonderful attraction on your next trip to Las Vegas.

Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My!

June 30th, 2007 by Las Vegas USA Blog

No, not really but the MGM Grand Lion Habitat provides plenty of opportunity for visitors to see real live lions of all sizes and ages. The Habitat at this famous Las Vegas hotel and casino has been the home of one of the most seen lions in the world, Leo the lion who roars at the beginning of every MGM production.

Leo has retired but his family carries on in his place at the MGM Grand Lion Habitat. All of the lions featured now are descendants of Leo and entertain about 12,000 visitors a day in the habitat complete with four waterfalls, a pond, trees, and overhangs.

The 5,000 square foot habitat is enclosed with one and a half inch glass giving viewers the chance to watch the lions as they eat, sleep, and play. You may have a problem getting good photos though as there is usually a crowd with noses pressed against the glass.

While the attraction at the MGM Grand Lion Habitat in Las Vegas may seem confining for the lions don’t worry. The lions ‘work’ for 6 hours and then have several days off at the 8.5 acre ranch about 12 miles from the hotel.

Both the attraction at the Las Vegas hotel and the ranch are open to the public from 11:00am - 10:00pm daily and admission is free. Although at the ranch for a fee you can have your photo taken with lion cubs.

A great way to pass some time and gain a real appreciation for the ‘big cats’ or ‘kings of the jungle’ you won’t want to miss this Las Vegas attraction.
